Massive Commander Fault

I rarely Ever play as commander, and found more reasons as to why not to play it.

Today I tried being commander as I sat on the Mounted MG, and opened the commander screen and all was well. However, when you hit Caps Lock to close the commander screen, BF2 has a MASSIVE crash, with the screen locked and the sound repeating itself every milisecond like a broken record player. If The game doesn't simply freaze like that, I sometimes get a BlueScreen in regards to a memory dump after the crash. I am forced to restart the computer every single time.

This problem is quite consistent for me as well. I find that when I am actually IN something when I am commanding, and close the commanding screen, 99% of the time the game will crash. This happened on the Mounted MG, the AA on the Essex, in the Humvee, and so on.

Any of you ever have this problem? This is becoming overwhelmingly irritating!

I have exactly the same, however it doesn't happen as often as 99%.

I'd say perhaps 1 out of 5 times when I'm in an MG and close the commander screen, I crash. That's quite often though, as I switch between Commander screen and normal view all the time. I've had to stop that

yea i had that same problem last year...changed graphic card drivers..problem gone

Get the latest nvidia driver which was released few days ago. it solved an issue similar to this one. maybe it will solve this problem for you.

Battlefield 2 has corruption or crashes when a player switches from zoomed commander view to zoomed sniper view.

Wow, when I initially posted this, I didn't really think any of you guys would be able to relate, glad to see this isn't just happening to me.

I'll look into the drivers, wasn't aware newer ones were released. More comments/input is appreciated.

I have spent about 10 rounds today as commander in the new version, not had any crashes when in mounted MG's or any other vehicle/object.

I've also had this crash, but that was many months ago... I've updated drivers since then and I think it has fixed it.

I have x800 with the latest driver and have the same exact problem all the time, but not in the commander screen, but randomly through the game. Either it goes back after 10 seconds, or it crashes with black screen completely and I have to restart.

Oh dear, that sounds worse than the fact 1.12 screwed up the game every time I got concussion and my sniper crosshairs kept dissappearing.

I tried a number of drivers but they all did the same thing.

I hope 1.2 isn't going to be the same (hurry up stupid download).

I played Commander for the first time in 1.2 today, and sure enough this "bug" is still there.

I've had the bug with both 81.98 and 82.65 drivers, which are the newest ones (final and beta).

It's pointless to command with this problem really - how am I going to get 80 more hours and 8000 more points as Commander?

I play'd some commander lastnight had no crashes but my FPS would crap out in commander window, regular play FPS smoke'n along just fine but commander window was chugging @ 5-10 fps.
