Just to translate to the slower ones.

To get a kill with an equipment against a player who has a far superior equipment. For example- Getting a knife kill against a M16 at long ranges.

Sorry man, I'm too far away to be able to have a playble ping level while playing on US servers, so I won't be able to answer your challenge.

Re: Pilot Discussion: Strategies for New Anti Air

Good pilots still own with 1.2. They just have to work a little harder to do so. I just came from a server playing Wake Island where some US pilot was untouchable. As soon as I entered an AA site he seemed to know where I was and blew me away each time with his cannons.

So, those that think pilots are done for in 1.2 are jumping to premature conclusions. The pros that know where each AA site is located and know the correct flight paths to use in each map are far from being knocked off their 50-0 kill:death ratios.

I'm abit of a jet whore to some extent, 35% of total time has been in a jet and this is how i see it.

I think the AA is almost right now, i say almost because i feel it's abit buggy. I've already had a couple of 50+ kill games to 2-3 deaths. While the AA hasn't effected me much as i generally don't bother bombing and stick to air to air combat, one thing i've noticed is jets are being sent back to respawn alot more often.

I think it's almost impossible now to go a game without deaths in a jet, no matter how far out of the action you are a stray missile always manages to get you. I had abit of a bombing run to see how to deal with it and i found loop bombing to be the key to staying alive, first run focus on taking out AA then loop dropping each bomb on the way down then hit it back into the higher skys.

The jets themselves are now deadly to other jets/choppers, the missiles are doing some strange things but they do hit their targets more often now. An example of something strange was i had someone following me firing missiles, i managed to avoid him and get behind him in a few seconds. I then proceeded to take him down with two missles and then 10-15 seconds later i got blown out of the sky by the guy i just killed and his missles he fired while he was behind me.

Knowing where all the AA locations and dive strafing them is the way to go aswell, the biggest problem is the Mobile AA. Those things are rather deadly if they get a lock onto you, the missles seem to be able to pull off insane angles now so it doesn't matter what direction you are going when they fire. Another good thing to come of this is the less raping of the carrier, i can't count how may times i've seen the essex getting kills today.

Overall i think the changes were good, i'd like to see the bugs out of the missles. However i don't see it affecting the average and above pilots much at all, as long as you don't ignore the AA altogether anymore you should be alright.

Re: Pilot Discussion: Strategies for New Anti Air

Oh I agree planes aren't done. I went 40-7 or so last night in the plane, and 3 of those deaths were me crashing into stuff trying to fly low and evade.

It's funny some of you guys say welcome to the infantry world. WTF? What do you think we do on maps like Karkand with no planes, or when the planes are taken? Just sit in the corner? I've played plenty on each air map to know how it feels when someone is raping you with the plane.

The lighting thing with the Air to Air is some kind of bug. The missles are like bees with angry teeth buzzing around the plane once they hit for a couple seconds.

Big plus now for "real" pilots, is planes are no avaiable and it seperates the real fliers from the casual ones.

Likewise, I like the new challenge of the anti air. :) Before I'd go 60-0 two rounds in a row, and the next round I didn't feel like flying, because it was boring.

Re: Pilot Discussion: Strategies for New Anti Air

i'm loving it, now i can finally be a pilot coz all n00b pilots stop flying

i've been flying allot yesterday coz no one took the plane, and i flew like i allways did, fly in, drop bombs and get the hell out, did that since Desert Combat 0.2 and rulled the skies with the a10

didnt fly in a copter yet, wonder if that got better aswell.
but the key with copters is flying low and using buildings and hills as cover.

best is to make sure jets just can not take off
coz if they do you'l need to climb fast....

the only problem i have is that i can not get behind someone chasing me... somebody got a tip for that?

The F15 and the J10 in the game should be rivals. The game should be balanced. reality is not always the right choice/fun.

No F15 was ever taken down in a combat since its first day. that does not mean you should not be able to take an F15 down in the game.

In the Air Force's trainings when the practice... (someone correct me if I am wrong) if someone gets a lock on you then you are out of the practice and considered "dead".

The game was fun for you, but it really was not fun for anyone else.
In a way, you are right. They show you being locked on, bam you're dead.

The only issue this has on the game: in reality you have hundreds of miles and thousands of feet you can get before even engaging an enemy. Your radar would normally pick up the bogey, and vice-versa and it becomes a dogfight.

The pilots are the ones to be reckoned with, not the jets. It's been like this since day one, in reality and in the videogame.

I haven't played the game in several days (my GF was in a pretty big car accident) but when I am able to do so, I will definitely still be flying. If anything, this only means one thing: the people that once complained will be ever so peed about this, because a good pilot knows when to bail and fight another day. From what I've read, if I get locked on, do you seriously think I will stay in the cockpit? :) I'm going to jump out, as I've always had, and not give the AA a chance to get a kill.

However, I will try and work around the AA/mobile AA more often now. AA sites have never bothered me before, although I have had my fait share of deaths in relation to AA. What is really worrysome, has been and will continue to be, are the jeeps/variants with their guns. Those suckers can take you down in several seconds! :)

Either way, I think it will be a good thing for the community, let's just see how long it takes for the BF2 community to start complaining about something else not being balanced. I still say it: the next patch will render the sniper rifle kit's ability to shoot bunnies rather than bullets.

                So, a recap:

                - Have yet to play the with the patch
                - Excited to play with the patch
                - Excited to see how the AA/mobile AA works now. Maybe my missiles will actually hit something.

Everything else before the patch was something to adapt to, and everything will be the same now with 1.2. Adaptation is key.

                PEACE

-Fly very high, then dive down strike the target, and get out of there.

that how i was playing last night and enjoying it. you can see the fear all the same i was on wake deffending a flag and the cobra pilot was too scared to just sit there or come too close. ( love it )

I fly a lot and think the change is welcome, skill is needed and a bit of thought it was too easy before. Anyone finding too hard -tough learn to think and fly with some skill.

my main concern was the missile count to only eight but i see the missiles are more powerful to kill tanks.

Sorry, but the tips I had given in earlier posts before 1.2 still apply. I'll recap it:

                      Attack helis:

                      - Fly low, think of your gunner as being the main force in your vehicle
                      - Think of the AA sites, destroy them or line them up for kills.

                      Transport helo:

                      - Fly to where you need. Tell your mates to get out once on land.

                      Jets:

                      - If you were a good pilot before the patch, you will know how good you really were with this new patch.

                      Is that good enough

you need arround 6 hits to take out a tank still...

So, they lowered the count, but they are more powerful? Let's hope you're right, and it's just not something like: someone hit him before or the fact that you may be missing less than before the patch

nope well tested on a server with only a few lads. We were testing things out.

the missile count makes sense you can kill a tank with 6-8 missiles and it stops base raping.

the only thing is a wee bit of lag just now
lets face it you could fly about with not a care in the world before and kill everything. even air to air easy as that all you had to think about was the other plane not any AA

Colony, despite some of what I said yesterday about air2air Im now not so sure I dislike it...Now I managed to evade j-10 missles on my dead six sometimes until they run out....Its evil on the stick but I was jinking some and they were missing, but I was dead meat if I was in a turn.It will take me several more hours in the air but there are options I think.

The last resort being never let enemy planes fly again after downing them once, but I hate to resort to loser tactics but hey they had to whine

Also acheved 50-0 yesterday and was playing very cautious,so Im not unleashing hell yet.

And good pilot still fly and get kills and have fun, its just a little more difficult. No more JSFs hovering just off the Chinese airfield or making pass-after-pass-after-pass with no fear of retaliation because you keep blowing your only competition up before it gets off the ground.
                                AMEN!

I still feel like they shouldve made a shoulder mounted AA unlock to level out Infantry vs Air. Wouldn't show up as a bombable target like a Linebacker and isnt a fixed position like a Stinger nest. You could get a lock on a pilot coming in for a bombing run and hope to god they break off. But... I guess pilots have enough to worry about now with the new patch, so whatever.
