I'm being kicked for "modified content"

I installed the full 1.2 patch today. I downloaded it directly from EA. Now when I try to play multiplayer, I get kicked for modified content. I have "similar version" unchecked in my filters so that I can try to join the white ones, but it doesn't work. The version number in the corner of the screen seems to be the patched version. Single player is working fine.

I'm wondering if it was a mistake to install the 1.2 over my 1.12, but I can't imagine it making much of a difference except that you download a much bigger file. When I tried to install the incremental version from EA downloader, I got errors about how it couldn't find the folder for BF2. I have not changed any file names or folder names. I have a fairly recent install of Windows XP and it's in pristine condition. Has anyone had this problem, and if so, have you fixed it? I'd really like to avoid having to uninstall my whole game and reinstall it.

Try updating your PunkBuster, that worked for me.

I'm a total moron, and you guys can flame me if you want. When I initially installed the patch, I installed the full patch over my 1.12 patch and it totally fouled everything up. The patch didn't install correctly at all.

I uninstalled BF2 and SF and reinstalled everything and then patched everything again, and now it's working fine.

Dont waste your time trying to avoid reinstalling the game, its the fastest way to get a non-mangled setup::

I fixed the modified content error I got when trying to load SF. I had tried reinstalling patches but it still didnt work.

Went to add/remove program files
Removed SF
Removed BF

Reinstalled BF
Reinstalled SF
Patched using full 1.2
Added 1.2>1.21 incremental patch

(I would have done the 1.21 full but I already had the 1.2 full + new so I went with that one)

*note-i did not mess with the registry
*note-i did not mess around with my ram as some suggest
*note-could have saved my key binding file but wasnt worth the trouble

So even though it was a major pain in the ass it worked, had to reset key bindings but I am getting good at that, also had to reoptimize shaders but all in all still faster than screwing around with it forever. Plus, my BF2 seems to run even better now, although SF still loads PAINFULLY slow... I think it keeps optimizing shaders everytime, but so what I just wanted my new unlocks dont care about SF as a game.
