Installed patch now bf2 crashs to desktop

I installed the patch. Start bf2, screen goes black, hard drive fires up, modem blinks a couple of times, screen stays black a couple more seconds then it dumps back to desktop.


I wonder if they actually test this crap before they send it out.

I have'nt seen a fix to read about. Definetly not one that works so far.

Got any ideas?

did u rename bf2.exe back in 1.12? that could be ur problem...the bf2.exe has to be named bf2.exe

Yeah I did, I renamed them back to bf2.exe instead of bf21.exe. Tried restarting and had the same problem.

Did you just rename back to normal after install or before install?
Because I heard some cases of when it's installing it has to be bf2.exe

Mate, just reinstall the game and apply the patches. Thats what I had to do last night. I had renamed my bf2.exe a while ago. Renaming after the patch is applied does not work.
Everything is cool after the re-install.

No it bloody isn't okay after the reinstall. Even after deleting it from the registry.
