    Noob Tubes still work...

they do, ive tested them myself many times.

only thing now is they dont have trajectories and are all glitchy like.... but so is the rest of this patch.

funny how the only thing that the jumping and prone restrictions made was make it feel like the old one with a 6000 ping. ie frozen in jump, frozen prone, frozen switching weapons, glitches with em....

remember that thing to stop dolphin diving? how itd be "totally unseeable" to non dolphin divers?

********. it takes 4 seconds to get up, and being frozen in place AND having noob tubes is not good.

Yes, they still work at close range. There's just a little lag before the grenade actually goes off.

They did a poor job with proning. If you go prone, all it does is freeze you in your stance for a few seconds while you can't do anything. BF2 is too fast paced to go prone.

Okay here's what I suppose is going on.

Everyone is thinking... okay so there will be a minimum arming distance for the GLs. That is not the case. What was stated in the patch documents was a minimum arming time for the GLs. Thats why when you shoot it at your feet it "lags" and then explodes. Its because it is taking more time to hit the ground. As you all may have noticed, GLs don't bounce off the ground, they only bounce off walls, cars, and things above the ground. This is why it "still works"

I think... They should have made it bounce off everything and if someone shot it at the ground and it flew up in the air and came down and hit your teammates it would be your fault. If you hit an enemy by chance you'd get a kill.

Also, they should have made it bounce more realistically like. The Gls bounce off walls like socks... If you shoot them at a 45degree angle they should bounce at a 45 degree angle.

I agree with the prone getting nerfed...i always prone when i meet up in combat with someone, now i have to wait a couple secs before being able to get up again...grr

dolphin diving is still possible... i've tried it out, you just have to press 'lay down' more... thats no real diving but...

I agree as it does take longer to get up from prone, in real life you don't just start sprinting away, at first I was annoyed, then realized that this does make more sense......if I choose to go prone while in battle, why should I expect to be able to automatically start running, I would take half a second to get up. As for the noob tubing......I agree with most people on this issue, however I like reading these forums and others as well and found the following:

Grenade launchers aren’t really effective in close range combat, you have to have a direct hit to kill an enemy, or you will miss them, and its easy to do damage to yourself. Some people are actually very proficient with the grenade launcher in close ranges, and long ranges. Though using grenade launcher on people point blank is generally frowned upon. Unless you are using it in one of the situations described in detail above, you should keep the assault rifle out. Nothing is more annoying then confronting someone to have him switch to a grenade launcher and blow you away without so much of a fight from him. If you run into someone that is firing bullets at you, answer with bullets, its very unsportsmanlike to then blow the other guy away with the grenade launcher.

Knowing it is possible to kill with the GL at close range, it is a part of the game, I don't like it, but I deal with it.

I'm still a little fuzzy on the new GL mechanics. I was playing karkand last night and came across an enemy sitting in a stationary van using the MG, he didn't see me. I switch to GL and fire at the van, easy kill right? Well the gren seemed to just disappear with no explosion or anything. It might have gone thru the van, out the other side, and exploded there, I'm not sure. I just said screw it, switched to assault rifle and gunned him down. I tried the GL a few more times but it just felt really strange... seemed almost unpredictable. I guess I just need to fire up singleplayer and experiment a bit to get a feel for the new mechanics.

                  Re: Noob Tubes still work...

You can dolphin dive once or simply run jump and go prone, but the delay in getting up again prevents rapid repeating and moving around like this...

I think it works pretty well and shows that the worry that you could not dive onto objects is not true (you can still get into the rail cars in Karkand)...

As for the delay in getting up and down, well that simply enforces a more realistic looking movelemt for players in the game... All IMO of course...

As for the topic of the thread, I was a little disappointed that the time delay is so short, it has in fact made the noob tube practically idiot proof because you can't kill yourself with it unless you fire staight at a wall (real close) or staight at your feet... If they had made the delay a whole second then it would have forced it's use in a reasonably realistic manner...

the gl seems to work like it did in singleplayer, but in multiplayer its all strange...

the round seems to disappear and have no explosion, but still kills enemies!

i shot one and it went through the back of an enemy, out the front and into a tank, where it disappeared! the enemy died instantly!
