My review of the 1.2 Patch.

    Hi!

I'm sorry if this thread is consider as unnecessary, if so, then please do what you got to do - moderator.

    Okay, let me start now.

I've been playing the 1.2 patch for around 4 hours straight now.
And now I've decided to make a review of it so I can share my thought and opinions to the community of totalbf2.

    Downloading & installing:
The downloading site I chosed was rapidshare, fast and easy.
I downloaded the incremental file, the file which you're required to have 1.12 before installing.

The installation was fast, and I noticed that DICE had put in a new window instead of the slow 'Patching, please wait'. This one was a big plus and it gives the user a better view of what is happening.

But as everyone know, it still takes alot of time on a normal computer.

    Downloading & installing: 7/10.

    First impression:
So the first thing I did was to check out BFHQ, nothing special there. Just wanted to check out the new two weapons.

I got myself online on a Polish server.
I didn't notice anything special in the beginning except very smoother graphic than before - I'm running everything on medium.
And after a while I checked out alot of the new stuff that has been updated.
I got a bit bothered about the weapon lowering when you jump, not the function, but the animations. It looked like you were running like a freak in the air from your first person view.

    First impression: 8/10

    Gameplay overall:
So after a while I got into a great squad containing Polish players. I don't know if it's the patch or the great people on that server - but we had the teamwork, the enemies had the teamwork too. So we had some great firefights.
Even though my squad ended up loosing in the end of the rounds, we had a great time.
And it continued like this for the rest of the match.

All of the players on the server were very up to be cooperative, that means it was alot of fun!

The tweaking of all the weapons are great! I, who love to play as support, am happy, because my weapon is nicer than it was before... well, you understand.

I'm a bit unsure about the teamplay, I only played on one server - so I haven't formed an opinion about teamplay yet, but what I have experianced now is great teamplay.

    Gameplay: 9/10.

    Overall points: 8/10

    Here my review ends.
I want you all to notice that I have been nice with the 'points' because I really like this patch.

I'm sorry if I have spelled wrong at any place or if my grammar is bad - I'm from Sweden, so English is not my motherlanguage.

    With kind regards,
    Eric - Kixfox.

    I'll leave a note:
Have fun and help BF2 to become a great teamplaying game!

Feel free to add me on Xfire anytime: Kixfox.
Not that I know why you would.

Now you can continue discuss the patch here on a matured level.

Many have been pointing out that its a teamplay or infantry patch. I´d wait a week about making a concolusion though. The only issue is AA, but even though the bitching is fun, it should take a week to finally see what this all has come down to. I always played in a squad anyway, so this should favour my gameplay.

      Hi Crhis.

From what I've been experianced, squad play didn't always matter in BF2.
Since most people just join a squad and played as a lonewolf anyway.

But as I said, from my experiance with the 1.2 patch that changed, atleast that very moment.

And I forgot to mention this:

When I was playing in my squad, we tried to capture a USMC flag, the flag showed a Chinese flag, but the 'flag-o-meter' showed a USMC flag and it didn't move at all.
USMC soldiers kept spawning around us, and we weren't able to capture the flag at all.

This seems to be a bug in the 1.2, I was wondering at first that we would be able to capture the flag if all enemies died, but no, it wasn't like that.

So we went for another flag instead.

        .
maybe you had some enemies hiding and not moving that you couldn't find within that same flagzone - which would stop the flag cold.

as for the flag that showed on the pole - that thing doesn't update often - maybe once every second. so if it falls it falls for a second before it gets the "go back up but start from here" command when the updated position is available. I believe the bar is more accurate.

That bug is pre 1.2 It happened rarely but did occasionally happen pre 1.2

OK the jury is still out for us. Some like it some don't like it but our server is up and running with patch 1.2 so I'm off to play some games and check it out to make a more informed decision.

But I will say this much that from what I have played so far the AA is extreme and the heli's are weak as p*ss now. They have been nerfed so badly and are now owned by everything just about. Jets can destroy them so quick just with the cannon its not funny.

            Hi Captain. :)

I must say that I cannot agree with you.
If you are a decent pilot, you will be able to survive atleast for a while, and since many people think the same way as you - the helicopters pad/spawn is empty on many server. So if you die, no problem! Get a new one.

I tried to fly all helicopters except MECs.
It was fun! The decreasing of ammunition wasn't a bad thing to do, it feels like you really need to concentrate on flying now and the target!

I haven't tried a jet yet, but I do agree that choppers are weak, a bit too weak, so I guess your point with jets-killing-choppers are right.
Since the jet machine gun is very powerfull.

DefJam: please keep the thread on a matured level.

Play nice, have fun! Kind regards,
            Eric - Kixfox.
