    Upgrading Computer (Help)

Hi yeah im trying to upgrade my computer im going to buiy an ATI Radeon 9600 and another 512mb of ram (768) total. well now I have a compaq pressario 7550 and am trying to open my case of the computer. but i dont see any screws for the actual case only hardrive. I see lil holes (circle) like. that I dont think can be used as a screw. well if you have any suggestions please tell me Ill take a picture of the computer soon. and can you tell me what im upgrading will it run BF2 pretty descently? thanks.

pictures of your case would definitly help to tell you how to get into it.

as far as helping you with upgrading everything, it would be more helpful to know more about your current system specs, like your processor and type of ram.

ok, 2.6ghz is just fine, thats what i have as well. i run at 1gb of ram, which is what everyone says you should have for bf2, but you might just be ok.

the most common way to open your case are 2 thumb screws on the back on the left side (the left side if you are facing the front of your computer). they are rather big screws on the edge that hold that left panel on and you can easily just use your hand to twist them off. from there you can usually just slide that whole left panel right off.

but seeing how you are using a compaq, it may be different. my old hp required removing the front cover and lifting the whole casing off from the top. you should check out your computers user manual, it should tell you how to open the case.

also note that since my old hp was a mini tower (i dont know if yours is, but just incase i will tell you this) i had to 'unlock' and push forward the drive bays (so they actually pushed out of the front of my case and were hanging out)so i could actually access parts inside my system.

here are the pictures as you can kinda see the case holders ( i think) are circles and not screws.

you should really just check the user manual. it should tell you how.

they usually dont make computers like that easy to take apart, because ppl dont tend to personally upgrade compaqs/hp's/dells etc.

if the manual doesnt tell you how to open it, and there are no obvious ways of entry, you may be out of luck. unless you really do just rip it apart :P

i really dont suggest ripping it apart lol

i dont think a sound card would be necesary....i mean, having a good sound card would probably give you a better feel of the game, as well as help if you play by sound of your surroundings. but you would also probably need a good speaker set up as well. i'm sure your on board sound will be fine with some headphones.

                            go to compaq website
                            and search there
it will have a detailed set of pix and show you step by step how to open it

I would suggest a 9700/9800 if you can find a cheap price. Much better performance if your computer has a good enough power supply. I have a 9600 (laptop) and it's lacking.
