    A little confused

Hi, I’m new to the forum and have been playing BF2 for about a month. I’m not bad at the game, I’m about 250,000 in leaderboard, and have all the basic badges except for commander.

My question is something about Lag that I don’t understand. In the game, I can run about anywhere get into any vehicle and exit with no problem. I shoot guys from downtown and other basic things no problems. The issue is when there are more than 5 guys around me at once. My game lags.

It’s like this… One of your members Lazy8s explained in great detail one of my favorite guns, the MG36 ( http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54448 an awesome read btw). I find that in close I always die with it. So I switched to another class, the assault class. I unlocked the f2000. I get in close with the f2000 with someone else who has the MG36 and he kills me with me getting one shot off.

I’m confused about what is going on. Only when I use the medic or the engineer weapons can I mix it up close and win.

The lag when you are face to face with another opponent makes it unenjoyable. You do wind up getting close all the time, and when I do, I’m a gonner almost 95% of the time.

Another thing I can’t figure out is the one shot one kill antitank missiles that are basic to the antitank kit (my tank I’m in has full health). I’ve used the kit, and hit treads and such and still it takes 2 or 3 shots to down a main battle tank. What’s going on?

So does anyone know if a faster CPU or graphics card would help? I’m not sure where lags come from. I’m pinging from 20-120. The lag comes at any rate I’m pinging at.

    My machine:
    P4 2.6g
Radeon 9800 pro (on a mix of low to medium settings in the software)
    2g ram (FAST ram)
Low audio settings in the software with the eax ( whatever it is) off.
Defragged drive with 100g left on the drive
All the latest driver and bios upgrades.
Cable modem all the way open.
    USB mouse (logitch gaming mouse)

It takes 2 hits minimum to drop a tank, and it can only be done easily from the back or top.

Your sound settings, you may try the dropdown box that says either "hardware" or "software" and toggle it. Some soundcards slow down the whole PC if they aren't set right.

Those 1 shot kill rockets are probably tv guided missiles.

No, thoes aren't Tv Missles. These are the basic anti-tank kit. I don't know how it's happening, but it is. 1 shot 1 kill on an Abrams.

Yes, I have my sound set to hardware and low quality.
