Difference in the server ping value in the game and in command line.

Hello! This is my first thred in the forum, so deal with this appropriatly... :)

I have been playing BF2 with patch 1.12 for 6 weeks. And it is already been very rich in events like reinstallation and stuff...

My main problem is that when I look in the ingame server browser I can see ping for servers. If I switch to command line and ping the same server I get value that is from 5 to 20 time less!!!
I notised it because I started getting this periods with very high ping (like >300) for couple of weeks ago. First I was blaming my internet connection (I have LAN connection with shared 8 Mbps to Internet) but I verified that there is app. 5 Mbps free capacity and the ping in command line is very low.
Both firewall (Norman) and virus scaner are off. I tried both wireless and cable. The result is the same.

Could you guys try to compare ping values in the game and command line? Any ideas why the values are so different?

    Best regards
    Igor

That's why I don't use the in-game browser. It completely sucks.

I use the All-Seeing Eye. Much more reliable.

Well the problem is that I do experience connection problems in BF2. So I do not know if it is BF2 that can not process the traffic on the connection or driver conflict. And I also get kicked from servers for high ping.
This means that the servers actually see me as a high ping player.

      More ideas? :hmm:

If you have hing ping, all you can do are:

        -update punkbuster
-run some traceroutes looking for a possible problem
        -contact your ISP

There is no magic way to decrease your ping if it truly is high.
