BF2 Won't Start - help?

Hey,

I've just done a clean install of Windows, as my system was ****ed. I've installed BF2, however when I try to run it, it won't start at all. It doesn't even get to the EA logo.

While I'm here, anyone know the solution to "Patching Failed" - it never wants to work for me.

It's starting to frustrate me. I couldn't play it when the system died, I can't play it now it's 'fixed'. Any idea what's wrong? Am I looking at a simple uninstall/reinstall, or is there no hope?

Specs

• 2 GB RAM
• PNY GeForce 6600 AGP 256mb*
• AMD Athlon 2.4 ghz
• 80 GB Hard Drive
• Direct X 9.0c

*Note: This is not the problem, as it worked before the system died, without any problems whatsoever =)

(P.S: "Last battle: Feb 12, 06" - get me back in BF2 I'm starting to develop withdrawal symptoms!)

Okay, what the ****?

It worked. Then I downloaded Special Forces expansion, and when I installed it it said patching failed. Now I've got to do another ****ing reinstall. It also says "Patching Failed" when I try to install the 1.12 patch. What the hell is going on? Can somebody please help me?

how much HD space you have? latest drivers? umm ill think of more questions later.

Got latest drivers, got 64 GB free on the harddrive

That's great.. I've paid £15 for it, and it won't work. Each time I try to install it, it's "Patching Failed". Then I have to reinstall BF2. It's an endless cycle. It means I can't play online. Is there light at the end of the tunnel? Anyone know if EA have got off their arses and worked this one out?
