WTF is the dam circle thing in attack helos?

Anyone kno what that random cirlcle is that moves around ur hud when ur flying, my team is absolutely mind boggled and curious to find out???

I recently discovered what it is. Its actually extremely useful. It engages while youre hovering with a speed of 0. Its an indication of the "center", so you can hover in a certain spot and can adjust your chopper so it sticks in that spot. If the circle moves ahead, youre moving behind. if it moves back, youre moving forward and so on.

Makes sense though you only see it when you are taking off or in a hover.

n00b detector- ROFL. In a sense it is. If youre hovering your chopper in the battlefield. Its like an alarm "Move n00b or get TVGMd out of the skies!"

i tell you another thing about bf2 that baffles me.

How come theres no legend in the server broweser? Theres nothing at all to tell you what all those symbols mean.

It's also on the jets, i always notice it fly off the screen when taking off.

Yeah its also weird but if you create a local server you can see in the TV missiles a little X in the middle of where you last clicked. Not to mention the neat little radio commanders for instants when you fire a missile it says "Fox one Fox One Missile Away" or some crap. I found out if you fire alot of missiles it does tell you to get off the radio and blocks you for 30 seconds... Maybe thats why it only works in local.

Actually used trees and buildings to keep the eye on the center. Oh boy those crasges.

Anyhow. The Single Player or LAN didnt say "Fox One Fox One Missile Away", at least I dont remember that. I only get "Missile away" or "Missile released".

Twisted- That indicator shows on the F-35B though. Its basically the only one that needs it.

Only in the F-35 JSF, since it has the hover ability.

even though it is a hover indicator
learn to hiover without
or as a new pilot
you will wind up "chasing it"

the helos seem to have an inherant desire to hover - if you just 'fly in to location'
and relase the 'w' and 's' keys
it will settle into place if the nose is level
if you have a throttle - you will need to find the sweet spot for power
27-34 % depending on helo
I like to make mine a little underpowered
and then just tap the 'w' key as it settles
this is my style and it works for me
