Ping Spikes at certain time of day

Between the hours of 9pm - midnight (EST) my BF2 and SF pings spike to 200-300+ for all servers. I have a cable modem and get great (sub-30) ping at all other times of the day. Even at 9pm other games and online bandwidth tests have good results, suggesting that the ping problem is related to BF2. Has anyone else experienced something similar??

Why not run the task manager minimized and set the update speed to low. Play bf2 and when it happens again look at the network graph.

If the graph spikes more than usual its some program doing auto update like MrCool said. (look at the processes tab --> cpu column. what Image name is hogging all the CPU (other than BF2))

If there is a longer than usual pauses then your local network is busy as someone is probably started some filesharing rubbish. Or your ISP is resetting all the connections (long shot)

When I play very early in the morning my ping suddenly increases but it goes away after 30 seconds and sometimes I get disconnected. It could be me or my ISP, so I will do the same to see.

        P.S 2MB broadband <50 ping but spike = 200 ping

Your cable company manages your bandwidth during heavy usage periods, that's why cabe can suck the big one sometimes, dsl users are not affected so badly.

Sounds like a bad ISP, get a good one that doesn't "manage" bandwidth and can provide the kind of latency times we've come to expect from decent Broadband.
