hi guys, i've searched the forums for a bit, and it did help me with a few issues i had, but i still have problems with many things, hopefully you can get me on track.
i've been playing the demo for a month or 2, and love it. my brother bought me the game and the Special Forces expansion pack for my birthday.
first i installed the original, and the only issue i had was that it wouldn't connect to anything, so i did a port forward through my router, and after a few go's, i retrieved my username and it worked fine.
then i installed the xpack, but then i couldn't see any servers to play on, and after alot of messing around, i ended up uninstalling both games, then re-installing the orig just so i could play it.
THEN i searched the forums and figured i needed the newest patch to try and solve that problem, so i downloaded the "bf2_patch_112.zip" patch, installed it with the orig currently installed - and that fixed a couple of things in the orig
then, i installed the xpack again, ran the patch again, and went to play through the Special Forces .exe, i found alot of servers, even when filtered 'same mod' and 'same version', there were heaps - but after trying 4 or 5 of them, they all said 'this server requires that you have an unmodded version of battlefield 2, please revert back to your orignal version' (or words to that effect, i can't remember in detail.)
confused, i hit community > custom games > battlefield 2 (the one below the one i was currently in) and tried again - same thing, apparently i'm too modded.
i'm not sure what i need or don't need - but without the patch i can't find a SF server to join, and with the patch i can't join them because it's not orignal or something.
- thats that problem with i really need fixed above all else, i'm dying to play some SF MP, but it seems hopeless at the moment.
some other problems -
high ping kick - i know i can just look for a server with a high ping (or is it low that i need) and settle for that. but can someone explain it to me? is there a way i can lower my average ping? will that effect game play?
white parts - it might just be the servers, - but sometimes while playing, the guns, trees and vehicles turn white and the without details - what's the go with that?
game drops dead - again, sometimes the game just decides i've played enough and it closes, leaving me back at my desktop. i read somewhere it could be a 'heat' issue?
lag - is it the 'ping' that determines how good of a server one is? or is there a way to find out how good the connection/speed is before you join, by looking at the list? i often join crap servers and end up with lag whenever C4 goes off, or whenever i die and have to re-spawn.
