I have a 7800GT. I have everything on high and on except for dynamic shadows. I also have AA4x, but when i play on 64player servers i get a 20FPS. Would this be normal and a sign that i have to lower my settings? because i know a guy with a 7800gt aswell and he has the same settings and he gets no lag. Would it be not having a soundcard? or temperature problems or something???

It could be the temperature that's the problem, check your temps. It can't be the soundcard.Originally posted by [PTG]KillAllFoolsI have a 7800GT. I want to bet, you don't have the same systems.. He has probably more ram than you. BF2 demands a lot of ram, and the FPS drops insanely if you don't have 1.5 or 2GB of ram while running BF2 maxed out. (:

Re: 7800GT Lag problems
Could be memory allocation. When I went from 1GB RAM to 2GB RAM I saw a huge performance jump. Running an eVGA 7800GT with an Athlon 64 3200+ at 1280x1024 with textures, AA and AF maxed, I get 50-60 FPS average.

Re: 7800GT Lag problems
I have the same problem. Unfortunately, the only way I have "fixed" it is to play on non-64 man servers. I play on 32 man and 40 man servers and now my fps is anywhere between 35 and 80, usually around 50 or 60.
To help you though, we're gonna need to know the rest of your specs.
And just out of curiosity, could you try that timedemo from the thread I posted and report back on what you get?

Re: 7800GT Lag problems
Are the two of you playing on the same server? I would first think that the 64 player server you are trying simply can't handle 64 people.

Re: 7800GT Lag problems
you got a sim system to me,
p4 3.8
assus a5nd2-sli
80gig raptor 10,000rpm
7800gtx 512(xfx)
creative fatality sound pro gamer sound card
2gig ddr2 mem ddr2.
all this set up apart from the cpu an mobo has been tryed with different system config's.
ie diff cpu diff mobo an diff mem,
as i used to work in a pc shop so i tryed all diff set ups in the tech department an i found that the game dosnt like ddr2 for some reason,
now this may not be the reason for yours but i found that the prob for me was the ddr2.
the only other thing i could say is try hardware parts with ur freind just to try an work out whats wrong.
another thing u could try doin is running your system normal an not overclocked,
ddr2 is no good for overclocking.

Re: 7800GT Lag problems
I have 7800GT, 2GB ram, AMD 4000.
Playing @1600x1200, all high except for dynamic shadows (LOW), 4AA, 4AF (best combination), fps is 50+ at all times, no matter what map is.
Maybe you have some crapware, or anti-virus scanning in background, or simply not enough system memory.

Re: 7800GT Lag problems
For the love of god, I’ve been writing about this issue on so many threads!!
I have a:
AMD Athlon FX-57
2 GB Corsair XMS Pro RAM
XFX GeForce 7800 GTX Xtreme Edition 256 MB
Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2
Also a 10 meg connection.
For months things were beautiful, the game ran like a dream on top settings at max resolution!
However since that sound issue, the scream of the speakers before the lag in game, things have never been the same….
(Some players lost sound, I never did but it lagged after the scream. Not everyone had this)…
The scream has stopped, I’m not sure why apparently some players were working with members of Punk buster as they seemed to be the cuprites behind all this.
What ever the reason it has stopped but still in my game it lags more or less from server to server and at different times during the game.
(It really stutters when you turn in game or when you are near other players).
The game runs fine single player just like it used to multiplayer, I’ve done all I can to the point of running the dam game on the lowest settings and still it lags!
Are people going to tell me that it’s a ram issue?
I believe this is something out of our hands, recently so many players are experiencing this lag issue.
I phoned EA, you know he help line.
The person I spoke to was little help, he did not even know about the sound issue a few weeks back…
He said to make sure I had the latest update of Punk buster….
This has made no difference at all…
I’ve had this problem now for weeks, I hoped that the latest patch would sort it out but it has not….
Why some are getting this and not others is beyond me….

Re: 7800GT Lag problems
I have a ASUS A8N-SLI Premium motherboard.
I really don't think it's that, the game works fine single and used to for months multiplayer....
