    FPS dropping when explosions?

I was wondering if your FPS is actually supposed to dip very low when you get the concussive effect from explosives such as artilary?

    Of course it should.

Try turning you effects down in Video options.

FPS will drop a lot when you look at heavy explosions or bullet ricochet, but shouldn't drop too low when you are in shell shock. But it will drop.

FPS drops for me only in very heavy explosions like several Arty exploisons, or 3/4 smoke nades going off at once in same place.

Yes. I lost a bunny hop shootout because my FPS dropped into the teens when artillery dropped.

And how smooth is your game? I have the same setup with a P4 and can only run all my settings at low if i'm at 1280x1024, and it is still choppy a lot.

yes - effects and heavy loads
(lots of people/vehicles in close view)
                  will drop your frame rate
no matter how good your system is
I have tested 100's of configurations
(I have 4 computers on home LAN each with BF2)
drop is about 30% at times
                  eg
I run about 90=99 fps on my system
and it drops to 60 at times
the 'smaller system' runs at 50fps and drops to 30-35 at times
