ofcourse they got some great ideas. they're not a giant company like EA who are only interested in profits.

I voted yes and it's a nice idea, but I can't see it happening. Joint Operations had some cool objective modes but servers were rare. 64 player arcade style shooters are popular because they're easy to get into and play. Having attack/defend objective type modes in BF2 would only appeal to a minority so the coders didn't bother.

          ...!?

Are you uninformed as to belevie there are companies around that think about "anything" other than profits!? ...or are you just joshin' everyone?

Every company on the planet's main focus is their profit margin. Most of those companies (VoodooPC, Falcon Northwest, Newegg.com) understand that customer satisfaction is the key to longevity. It's not that they care any more about you than the next company, they just know your "opinion" of them (as well as your perception of their 'customer care') is what's going to keep you funneling dollars into their pockets.

EA is no more evil, corrupt, or malacious than any other company. EA just has an idiotic customer relations policy (No, I don't know exactly what it is). They cannot seem to exactly figure out how to please "most of the people most of the time". Unlike some developers like Valve/Pandemic/Monolith who seem to have their act together.

Honestly though, it does seem like every development firm EA puts its hands on turns to utter rubbish. If not your "Steam", allowing for a direct link to the consumer, I would predict that value would go the way of DICE as well.

Re: BF3? Please god make it objective based

What they could do is have optional side missions along with the same central objective of getting your enemy's tickets to 0.

              I'm thinking something like:
+5 points for destroying an enemy computer hidden deep in an enemy base
+5 points for successfully stealing plans for a prototype vehicle (e.g. a jet)
+10 points for rescuing hostages tucked away in a well protected building
+10 points for successfully detonating a bomb in an enemy base that destroys a building

All the while they could still have flags to capture like they do now, etc. But the added "bonuses" that are different for each map might make gameplay even more interesting and more "true-to-life."

These side missions could only be completed once per round and whoever manages to pull it off (or maybe award the entire squad) would gain the points.

I'd love to have more objectives than just running the enemy tickets to 0. Have that central objective along with other (optional) side missions at the same time and I think people would love it.

Re: BF3? Please god make it objective based

Or here would be something that could be pretty easily implemented:

A squad leader is assigned an objective by the commander or they take that objective onto themselves and delegate it to their squad mates. e.g. Their objective is to capture a flag or perform a side mission like taking out the enemy commander's artillery. Upon successful completion of their objective, they are awarded bonus points for following orders. Inversely, if an enemy stops that squad from completing their objective, THEY are given bonus points.

Of course, this game is all about teamplay but EA doesn't reward teamplayers for completing objectives (besides destroying or repairing assets or capturing flags).

should EA ever decide to listen to any ideas by the true gamers i think they would really do good bussiness wise..sadly though it seems that their heads are up their arses too far for them to hear anything :)

True gamers like these "QuakeWars is going to be soo good because EA is so evil" -experts who KNOW that QW is going to be good even though they haven't even played it yet? BF games have sold probably millions of copies around the world and if (and when) they're doing a sequel for it, they must be doing good business too.

EA must be doing SOMETHING right on their customer service too since BF2 has still thousands of players/customers every day and that's pretty good for such an "old" game. Even the ones who hate EA still play BF2 or at least bother to read and write into BF2 messageboards :).

I voted NO for Objective based BF. Maybe yes, if would be a completely separate game-mode from conquer-mode. In conquer, you have a lot more options in gameplay. It's better now when you can choose your OWN objectives in every round like defend a certain flag, be a sniper, attack to enemy base and hold it etc.

Sorry to say, but Battlefield is Battlefield no Counterstrike or whatever stupid objective based game. It's a genre of itself which should stay like that.
