    Regardng Future Unlocks

From what EA has said they cannot add anymore unlocks because the Original BF2 doesnt have enough space left to add new ones.

Since we all know EA will release more than the two bosters that are coming up; will we ever see any more unlocks (Besides the P90 & L96A1).

It seems like they could modify the engine in future patches to allow them to add more unlocks....? Why are they letting an engine that they created constrain themselves?

They said that the users with only 512MB RAM couldn't handle the extra load that more unlocks would add, not that Battlefield doesn't have room.

Certainly they'll continue releasing little add-ons to nickel and dime people. That's EA.

its not that there isn't any more space... its that havin more unlocks increases the ammount of RAM needed to have the unlocks loaded in the first place. probably we will tough... as they debug the code(hopefully)

they should sell a new weapon unlock pack with a free stick of ram.......that would fix the system strain problem

Ya lol, that wiykd be hilarious, cause an extra 512mb of ram costs like 30-40 bucks.

How much memory would seven weapon models, skins, associated animations, and sounds take up? I guess the answer is: too much. BF2 is already hogging memory like mad, and after the patch there will be a possible 28 different primary weapons! (two sets of seven for each team, plus two sets of unlocks).

It all adds up I guess.

I just hope EA doesn't solve it by forcing servers to *choose* what unlocks it will allow, thus limiting RAM whoring but allowing lots more guns.

don't see why it's such a huge problem. sure, if you have 512 ram, you can't hold much, but EVERY computer has Virtual Memory on the hard drive to take up the workload of your RAM if it gets overloaded. surely they could force the weapons into the VM and leave the real RAM for the game. don't really need to see your weapon skins at the exact point of entry into the game to shoot if you have a reticle.

Adding more unlocks just seems silly to me. If they add more unlocks, then they'd probably drop the unlock point requirements further and further, a sort of unlocks-for-free situation, if you will.

I would be more then gladly to add another 1024 of ram to get some more unlocks it would keep BF2 alive for much longer

Anyone who knows if there will be any new weapons whit "armored fury"?

Now if i had a company that manufactures RAM modules i'd just give a quick call to EA and make a deal with them to add 2 whole sets of unlocks in the upcoming booster packs without any memory optimizations :)

Then i'd just lay back and wait for the money to come pouring in as all the BF2 players would be forced to buy a gig or so extra RAM.

its not as if the weapon models have amazingly high poly counts tho so they wouldn't take that much space up would they, unless they couldn't be bothered to even try to keep them to a reasonable size...

If I'm understanding this, the P90 and L96 will come as standard in Euro Force - so why is everyone talking about unlocking them? They are standard weapons for the Euros, like the M4 is to the USMC and the RPK to the MEC.
