Special Forces is definitly worth the money. There are some great maps added to the mix.

Go into the server browser and turn the "same mod" filter off. Click update and you'll find there are barely any SF servers.

While it is true that there aren't as many SF servers as vanilla servers, there are still a lot of people playing. There are never a shortage of servers to play on of all map sizes.

In my opinion SF is much better than vanilla, pre 1.2 patch. Namely, the maps are much better and offer many more options of playstyle. Especially for infantry. After playing stictly SF for over a month, I went back and played a round on Gulf of Oman. It then became quite obvious how imbalaced some of those vanilla maps are. And if you show me someone that disagrees, I'll show you a plane whore.

I have high hopes for 1.2 to fix the vanilla game.

I don't like playing SF that much, i was looking forward to night fights but night vision is somewhat lukewarm, I play vanilla 98% and only play SF when my mates join up and they always play, in fact i was looking over my stats other day and i found out i haven't even played Levithan yet. Def not worth 30 bucks but would of paid 9 or 15
