    Re: Improve loading times.

2GB here, 7800 GT, running game on all high.

Renaming the .exe decreased load times about a second or two, and raised my FPS by about 0.4. However, it created fatal errors with Fraps (all videos it created were corrupt on the spot), as well as several other programs.

    Personally, I don't think it's worth it.

      ASUS a8n-sli mobo
      amd athlon 64 3500+ cpu
      WD 7200rpm 200 gig HD
      ati radeon x800xl
PQI pc3200 400 mhz dual channel ram 1 gig (2x512)

and it ran good. I later added another 1 gig of the pqi dc ram and now I load maps in 10-15 seconds and have about 5-10 second verify client data.

A friend of mine bought a new dell XPS400 which had

      mobo?
      Intel P4 3.2 gig cpu
      150 gig hd
ati radeon x600 series 256mb vid card
      1 gig dual channel ram

He was slower than me loading and getting in game. Friday, Feb 10th 2005 he purchased a second gig of dual channel ram and installed it now hes ingame before me.

From this I can only assume (I know I know) that a major factor in loading and verifying client data times largely depends upon:

      1 ram
      2 processor

we play on the TEAMHAF server where many of the players have top end systems and we are usually if not 1st and 2nd at least in the first 5 players ingame no matter what map. I dont claim that this is fact, it could be something totally different but from my experience ram is the largest factor in load times.

I'd say RAM would be important. I have 1.5 Gig and I get on a map before most. But my processor isn't too great, on the other hand.

There was some pretty extensive testing down at Anandtech.com when BF2 first came out. People there got much better load times with 2 GB than with 1 GB and they had less pausing in game as well.

Well thats commonsense, More Ram = better load times and if your other parts are upto Par, you should have no stuttering esp. when the game starts.
