Don't know if this has been posted before, i just found out that renaming your bf2.exe actually makes the game load alot faster

If you really want to improve your load times I suggest ordering 2 WD Raptor 10K SATA drives and throw them in RAID 0 config.

Apparently it is recognized as a normal App by programs and therefor somehow increases loading times. I tried it once, didn't see a differance. Defrag ftw.

Same here. In fact I can't say absolutely for sure, but I think with my file named bf21 it actually loads slower. Plus there were some other glitchy problems as well. Wish I hadn't done it now.

Rename the videos if you want fast loading.


Also, the 7500rpm 320gb WD caviar drive is faster than the raptors because it has more plates. Read a few reviews, it's pretty sickening how fast it is.

Only thing that renaming exe does is lets you use hardware AA. I personally use ingame AA but a few months ago i wanted to try out hardware AA. The only way i could get it to work was rename the exe . Besides that i dont see how renaming the exe makes the game load faster .

So is hardware AA better/faster, better/slower, worse/faster or worse/slower than ingame AA?

Cant see a difference with renamed exe file..

Man there's a lot of inaccurate info in this thread...

1) RAID 0 isn't always faster with SATA drives, particularly 10,000RPM drives. In the testing that I've done it's often slower.

2) 1 GIG is nice, but 2 GB of RAM will load faster and causes far fewer page swaps.
