Oh, wow.

I JUST signed up for the forums to post about the very same problem. I'm an Inspiron 9300, 2.0GHz P4, Nvidia 6800 Go, Windows XP SP2, 512 DDR2 RAM. I have the exact same problem -- while I am presently running the game at 1600x1200, this is irrelevant, as the game runs smoothly until I look around at any resolution.

Also, it's worth noting that at this point in time, I'm a bit strapped for money, so hardware upgrades are not an option -- not to mention that I've seen the game run fine on systems with specs lower than my own.

Any help with this would be very much appreciated :)

Sorry I couldn't help ya out, Og, but I saw the thread, and figured since I was having the exact same problem, I'd post here.

Although, actually, a crucial difference between us might be that I get it quite a bit in single player, too...

Lower all of your settings to low, disable EAX. Both of your computers are on the very low end of being able to run this game properly.

non sense mate just because you have such a computer doesnt mean their computers suck

shouldnt be doing this... have you guys checked for punkbuster updates ?? drivers... motherboard drivers graphiccard drivers....

Non sense? They are trying to get more out of their computer than possible. If they are trying to play on anything but low/medium settings, then their computers do suck. So lay off, I gave them helpful info. I didn't just rag on them. Jeez.

Once again, lower your settings. This game is very demanding.

lol im not mad or anything just saying that the comps arent low end and medium shouldnt be a problem for his computer...

I use 1gb and mine stutters like crazy at the start then its ok, so thats why i am getting 2gbs.

I get the exact same things as The Fury and the same problems as the person who posted the topic, on daqing oilfields map, luckily not my favorite map so I just play on Sharqi,Karkand,Mashtuur and mainly city maps and get no stutters except from the start of the map, for maybe 1 or 2 mins.

Again im running BF2 on medium/high, but have 1GB of RAM and a Geforce 6600 256MB, so the cause of the problem is RAM most likely, but its just a small stutter before the round, and mainly happens on 64 player servers so try sticking to 32.

Try this, in Windows goto mouse settings and crank up dpi & speed as fast as you can stand it. Then go ingame and turn DOWN mouse sensativity & UP smoothing. Play with settings doing this should smooth out turning ingame.

I see people with 6600's running this game perfectly smoothly all of the time.

Maybe I'm wrong, though.

I'm hesitant to think that this is video setting related -- the game can fly on any resolution as long I keep the mouse straight ahead.

Disabling EAX also had little effect.

I have the most recent drivers in just about everything.

2GB would definitely help, but I can't shake the feeling I should be getting at least better than this out of the game. If I can run CS:Source at 1920x1200, with max settings, at 70-85fps, it seems ludicrous to assume I couldn't handle Battlefield 2 at 800x600, especially given that even at 1600x1200, there's no slowdown whatsoever with mouse movement. I know Battlefield 2 is more demanding, but it is that much more demanding?

Also, I've played with all sorts of mouth smoothing/acceleration, I'm relatively sure the problem is directly related to the mouse either.

Thanks for the comments so far, guys :) I'll try turning things down and seeing how that goes.

Also make sure u have disabled any background programs on Windows Desktop, eg messenger, anti virus scanners etc etc, And also defrag ur HD.

U shud be able to play the game on LOW textures & others medium, but keep AA of & lighting off or low.

Once upon a time i could run bf2 quite happily, but I have been having this same crazy mouse/stuttering problem for a little while now, from around the last patch.

I have not found any solution, and i am pulling my hair out! I have tried:
Killing all background processes
running without EAX
running on the lowest/highest settings (and everything in between)
Running on one graphics card/SLI
Updating punkbuster
And anything else i found suggested on forums (prayer, voodoo, dancing naked under a full moon while chanting, everything!)

I have 2 gb onboard ram, so i pray that that can't be the problem. The graphics cards are a pair of 6800GTs. Motherboard is an Asus A8N-SLI. Processor is a dual core AMD 4200+. I'm working on the assumption that this setup should run BF2 comfortably, even at reasonably high settings.

I find the stutter seems to get worse the closer i am to other players, but i checked the ping and its often around 23, so i don't think its your normal lag.

Any help?

Are you guys running a wireless setup?
I had this problem for months until I switched off the Netgear WG111 Adapter Utility.

Problem solved. Don't ask me why, maybe more tekkie people could explain, but it is definately the cause as when I enable it - back to stuttering!!
