machine amd3200 xp
1 gig ram
gforce 6600 gt card
running on dedicated dsl line
all firewalls off. Anything I don't need to run bf2 turned off in Task Manager.
Nothing has changed recently I think my ping has always been about the same. I just hear other people talking about thier pings and mine are obviously high. Not only are they high but they make no sense.
When I finish a server search and hit the ping column to sort by ping.
I usually get about 4 different numbers. 94, 104, 110 and 125 the rest are higher and I don't pay much attention to them.
I have never seen a ping lower than 94 for more than a couple of seconds then it jumps back up to the usual numbers.
1. How can so many different servers from all over the world all have the same ping? By that I mean - - If I have 15 servers listed why would they all be 94 or 104 or whatever. wouldn't they all be different?
2. Why does a 94 ping jump to 125 when I click on it before I join?
3. Why do pings jump around so much.
4. And last but not least. If I am in Minnesota playing on a server in Chicago is a 125 or higher ping pretty high for that distance?
I fly a lot so I can tell when my ping goes in the crapper. I pass a close call only to crash. - - - after ---- I pass by it. Midair collisions that didnt happen on my screen that sort of thing. Bombing is really difficult as I have to figure out on different servers where to pickle bombs so they hit the target.
Really would appreciate some help with this.
Thanks
