The 1.12 patch that only installs to C drive//Game won't start up

So yeah, the latest patch only installs to the C drive, yeah? Well okay, I have my bf2 on the G drive and XP won't let me rename them so the patch installs. Oh yeah, and every time I try to start BF2, it goes to a couple shades of black, then crashes back to my desktop with no errors.

V1.12 installed to my BF2 install on my D drive just fine.

I'd recommend doing a complete manual uninstall, then re-install from disc, then apply the v1.12 patch from there.

I have BF2 installed on a separate partition with a different drive letter too, and patching was no problem at all.
Do you perhaps have a Battlefield 2 folder in your "C:\Program Files\"? If so you need to delete it. Then try to copy the patch to your BF2 folder on your G drive, and execute it again.
Make sure that you have Antivirus disabled, and Service Pack 2 installed.

The patch will only unpack to the C:, using it as a temp folder, but you can install it wherever you like.
