Getting a server.

So me and my brother have thought of renting a server..but were still wondering hwo it will work and were to go for good connection and price.

I think I heard a 32 man will run us about 60-70 bucks a month, which isnt to bad I guess.
So how does it work basically, is there a main server allowing me to customize map size, rotation, admin rights etc. . all this from my computer Im using to play? Im just hoping I wont need some technical know how.

Lastly Im guessing I should get connection to a server in my area, which is outside Philly, Nj actually.

Well, it depends it you're having a Ranked or Unranked Server.....
Ranked Servers do not allow you to do anything via FTP. All you can do is either access it thru the RCON or, if the Provider can do it, using BF2CC Daemon.
The RCON is basic......Maplist, Map Change, Change Basic Settings, Kick/Ban People.
If you have BF2CCD running you can do alot more.....Maplist, Map Change, Auto-Admin (High Ping kick, SmartBalance, Auto-Announcements), Select several Admins and their setting respectively, View Log, View Chat, Kick/Ban etc etc.

After that, it comes down to Provider and whether you want a Ranked Server purely, a Server that can run both Ranked AND Unranked AND other games aswell, or purely Unranked.

See, I own two Server at this moment in time, a purely Unranked Server which has the ability to Switch between BF2 and SF. The other, provided byGAME2XS, is a multi-game Server that can run every MP game under the sun, all for a set price.
So, I can run a Ranked BF2 for one day, the switch it to Ranked SF another, then play BF2 Unranked with Custom maps another, so on and so on.

You best bet is to get what I got, or instead of folking out $60-70 you can contribute to an exsisting server at half the cost, making it bigger and better, AND receive admin access
