Need some advice on choosing a good LCD

Well it's time again for me to build a new PC and i need to upgrade my monitor as well. So i've been checking out articles on google and such but i'm still clueless on what kind of lcd to get. I've read that a 16ms-17ms are best for gaming but i really like dell's 25ms monitors. So whats the best LCD to get that is a good value?

You do NOT want something thats 25ms.... IT will ghost sooo much. Anything above 10 will probably ghost a lot

mine's 12 ms and it doesnt ghost at all...

my 10 ms has slight ghosting and my fathers 14 ghosts a lottttt. it really depends too on the quality, if you get very high quality then response time isnt as important

i have a 3ms LCD. it is the VX924 from Viewsonic. it's awesome. i'd say go for anything with a response of 8ms or less.

I have a Viewsonic VX922 (2ms) and its great one of my friend's has a VX924 and I we don't see a difference, so either one is a good choice.

It is the xxms number. Such as 15ms or 25ms or 6ms. The lower the number the better.

I've got a Dell 2405FPW 24" (12ms) and it is awesome. No ghosting at all.

Something to keep in mind about pixel response time numbers from manufacturers is that they aren't particularly honest. They report best possible response time, not average response time. It is kind of like broadband speed. They always tout the best case, not the average. I've got DSL that is supposed to be 6.0 mbs downstream and 384 kbs upstream, but I can never hit those numbers. Typically I get somewhere around 4.5 mbs downstream and 300 kbs upstream, so not exactly as advertised.

Actually it's best possible gray-to-gray response time they put in their manufacturer specs I believe. Anyways, stick to sub 10/12 ms response times from a reputable name and you'll be happy.
