Saw this at Swedish site BF2.se, DICE have created an internal promo showcasing the Minsk Level for a new project which they'll be presenting at BFCON'06 (at least that's what I think it says).

I truely hope that ain't BF3. It should stay in modern time. Not some future settings, enough SCI-FI frag fps games out there. I won't buy a SCI-FI shooter. I love the modern theme of BF2.

Ye scifi is just a easy get out clause for "realism vs fun" arguements.

You cant really say "this railgun is so unrealistic!".

I prefer games that have at least some grounding in reality so that when you see something you know roughly what it does and how its gonna behave.

Scifi games just seem to be arbitrary...doesnt have to be that way, they just usually are.

Looks like an intro (or cut scene) video to me, so it could be for a variety of game types. Maybe they are going in a different direction from Battlefields first person shooter game type, maybe a RTS game, or yes, something like Planetside.

I couldn't imagine this would be under the Battlefield franchise, I don't think it fits.

the whole poit of bf2 is modern MILITARY , not some sci-fi crap. if i wanted someting like that, id play my quake4 more often

from what i hear - MMO bf3 is set 15yrs in the future...... sorry havent watched vid yet, does this fit the description?

Hell no. I want to experience modern combat, not some sci-fi ****. Same as that other game, terror wars or whatever, it will suck, am too old to identify myself with such games.

well what can they do next, they already covered WW2, Vietnam and Modern Combat, why not future warfare with mechs

It would be boring, really. There are already lot's of those games and for a longer period of time. If they go that route, I think half of the fanbase now will leave them, me included. There are only a few games that play in the modern time. ANd I for one love it. Don't need no sci-fi stuff.

Let's keep it realistic arcade, no mechs and such!

If anyone has doubts over this, I think it might well be true. Look at how the man on the ground runs and changes weapons, just like BF2 now.

EDIT: yeah, look. The second man runs up and "swap weapons" like changing from a M16 to M203, then fires a nade!
