Is 60C GPU temp. at idle normal with a 6800GT (no OC)?
Is this normal? I think its kinda hot. However during games it doesnt go up past 70. its always between 60-70. Is this normal with stock cooling?

how can it be fahrenheit? it says core slowdoan threshold is at 127 and the there is a C beside it "127C" so yur telling me the temps BELOW it r in fahrenheit. of coursse it must be celsius! im using my nvidia display tab to check this out.Comment

LoL I dont think Dark Sniper Knows what He's Talking about. He Probably Doesnt Even have a 6800 GT.
Yes that is normal for a 6800 GT or GT's. if you go above 80 then that is overheating (trust me I know) LoL.
Now Like you, I have an Intel chip and they do get HOT, put both the intel and 6800 together and thats really hot.
My Solution was to get better cooling for my card and CPU and also to leave my case open but still far away from danger.
Oh yea and go buy some commpressed air and clean your heatsinks. I had a s**t load of dust near my CPU. blew it out with my air commprsser and boom temp went down 15C.

Yea It can go above 80C and not have a problem but it's still not good for your card LoL before I got my cooling I started losing frames around 90C which is way to hot to just leave it be.Originally posted by redearedslider

my friend has two 6800gts, 60C is normal idle (at least in SLi on a a8n delux mobo). over 80C is pretty hot, but somewhat normal for the 6800gt. do as the other guy said (i dont feel like scrolling up to check his name) and blowing the dust out. My 6800gs's which run way cooler max at 75, so you are good. but yeah, as drunken said, watch for glitches.Comment

during games, mine is 65-75. it should be ok. but when ur not doing anything but surfing or iming ur friends, should be around 50-60. mine is in the low 50s during idle.

60 degrees C is okay. Mine idles at about 45 degrees. I have an after-market cooler for it, which everyone should have for their video card. Overclocking is a must these days and after-market coolers enable you to overclock a bunch for little $$$ and not worry about temps.

My 7800 didnt even get that hot OC to a gtx, beacuse of the AC Silencer, goes max 55c in game
