if there is some kind of a special patch that will help alot

few years ago my old pc wasnt running the matrix game cuz it had d845 mother board and they released a patch for it then it worked

so there must be 1 for bf2 (im not on my old pc btw its a new alien ware)

i have dx 9c (bf2 installs it automaticaly but i already had it)
im not on a laptop

yeah i have xp sp 2 with updates

You need to click ok anyways when it asks you to install DX9c.

I wonder why you keep calling people noobs, and this the worse forum.

i'll tell you in a sec.... i'll have to find the fix that i got from EA. i had the same problem. you need to delete everything in the registry for BF2. there is a hidden registry key that makes no reference to BF2 though. i'll find what it is.

ok, this is what EA support sent to me and it worked.

"Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts. I’m sorry for the difficulty that you are having with Battlefield 2 for PC.

If an automatic uninstallation doesn't work, you can manually uninstall the game by removing the files and registry keys associated with it. Be sure to follow these steps exactly as they appear to prevent accidental file/program deletion on your system.

To delete the save files:
Open My Documents.
Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete.

To delete the game files (in the default location):
Open My Computer.
Open the C drive.
Open the Program Files folder.
Open the EA GAMES folder.
Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete.
Close all open windows.
Right-click on the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.

To edit the registry and remove Battlefield 2:
Click on the Start button.
Click on Run.
Type regedit in the text field.
Click File and then choose Export.
Name the file Backup and make sure the Export Range is set to All.
Click Save; you will now be returned to the Registry Editor window.
Click the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Click the plus sign next to Software.
Click the plus sign next to DICE.
Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete.
Click the plus sign next to Electronic Arts.
Right-click and choose Delete on any Battlefield 2 folders.
Click the plus sign next to Microsoft.
Click the plus sign next to Windows.
Click the plus sign next to CurrentVersion.
Click the plus sign next to Uninstall.
Right-click on the key named {04858915-9F49-4B2A-AED4-DC49A7DE6A7B} andchoose Delete.
A Confirm Key Delete window will appear, choose Yes.
Close the WindowsRegistry Editor.

Battlefield 2 is now completely removed from your system."

Next time try and make a comprehensive post and read the sticky thread on how to.

No one will commit an unnecessary amount of time to help solve a problem if they end up having to do extra because you ommitted the information in the first place.

wow freaking **** annoying thread, here I am having the same exact problem and becasue of your childish behaviour, no one gets an answer..this has happened to me in the past but I wa in need of a good reformat so I did that and re-installed everythign adn it worked fine..here i am a few weeks later having the same problem and now I dont want to reformat at all.

Don't format. Create a bootable partition, big enough to hold at least XP and BF2 +patches, and install a clean copy of WinXP on it. Download all patches (or grab them from your regular windows partition, if you saved them) and finally install BF2. See if it works without having to reformat your drive. You'll just have two operating systems to chose from when booting. Plus BF2 might run even better on a clean OS with no other junk than the game loaded on it :)
Maybe this helps.
If you're not confident with creating partitions I'd recommend unplugging the drive with your data on it, and attach a new drive. Like this you won't get confused when having to chose harddrives in the WinXP formatting/installing menue, and you can mess around formatting, and installing windows. The other data on your old HD is safe. HDs are very cheap nowadays. You could also get one on ebay for a reasonable price if you don't already own a second hard drive.
