I have been playing online with BF2 for only a short time. I've been really looking forward to my first promotion and perhaps my first badge or two. I was playing last week on a ranked server when I was awarded my Basic Armor Badge. Very exciting for me!
However, when I left the server I noticed that my global points, and award, did not update in BFHQ. I read on the forums that it can take up to 48 hours to update, so I waited. It has been over a week and I never got those points, or that award. I figured, well that sucks, but maybe it was just that server. I won't play there any more.
Last night I was on another server and managed to rack up enough points to finally earn my first promotion and the Basic Assault Badge. Again, very exciting. Sadly, those points, promotion and award have not updated in BFHQ and it doesn't look like they are going to.
Did I pick another bad server? I couldn't have. I actually got several Global Points from the first two or three maps I played on that server, and my roommate was playing on the same server with me and he got all his points. However, I still have not received my points from the last two maps I played, which means no promotion, and no award.
So, am I doing something wrong? Is there a rule about how you get points updated? Do you have to play through a complete round of maps? What if you leave half way through a game? What is the freaking deal?
What frustrates me is that I've been excited about earning promotions and awards, and I've had them displayed in-game, complete with the exciting drumroll announcement that I've been promoted or that I've earned this badge or that badge. But twice now I've had to accept the fact that those promotions and awards were just teases and the BFHQ does not recognize them for some unknown reason. Again, my roommate got his points, same server. I got my points for the first couple of maps, same server.
So, are global points really this random? Is this what I have to look forward to? Playing BF2 and earning stuff and then having to hope that maybe, possibly those earnings will actually be real? There has got to be a better way to update points. If the game itself awards me the promotion and badge in-game, why can't BFHQ accept it right then? I've been trying to unlock my first weapon for over a week and it seems like the "randomness" gods are just deciding that 'nope, sorry, just kidding about that promotion, better luck next time'.
If global points, promotions and awards are really this touch-and-go, I don't see the point in trying to earn them. So lame...
