Throwing grapple backwards?

How can I throw a grapple hook backwards...this would help a lot, I saw it in a movie:

Don't you just throw a grapple hook and press the same button you use to climb up it to go down it?

I'm assuming he used the secondary fire button and let it go early, so the hook doesnt go far and the rope slips down.

i think u just aim at where u want the hook to be and press the right mouse button, so that it doesnt go far, and the rope will fall over the edge, while the hook doesnt, look at the vid, u can see he puts no force when he throws the grapple to go down.

It works the same if you throw the actual hook off so it hits the floor and the bottom of the rope will just stay at the top.

Second fire button or...read the manual(it say that)
