If by assault class you mean, they have to lay on their bellies to be effective, then yes, they are the new assault class.Comment

Proning is what half the enemies I come across do anyway when they first see me.Originally posted by Demize99If by assault class you mean, they have to lay on their bellies to be effective, then yes, they are the new assault class.

Hopefully support will actually be able to suppress at a distance, ie intended purpose.Comment

Re: Patch support guns
I still don't understand why support must be forced to go prone to have reasonable accuracy.
You can fire an M249 standing and get a man sized group at 50m. Crouched, you can get a man sized group at 100m. Prone, up to 600m for a point target.
I don't get while support has to be forced to "Flop" around the map in oder to be effective. This seriously hinders all supressive fire positions, and squad movement. I just don't friggin' get it!?
...it's like DICE is supporting the concept of diving to your belly everytime you want to shoot at somthing. That's insane!

I'm hoping for that too. I'm so tired of getting killed by the other rifles, because they don't have respect for us support folks

Re: Patch support guns
Agreed. When I see an support player I just think, " Single Fire, Crouch, Aim, ...and move on". It never even passes through my mind that I could possibly be killed. This is true even when they are supported. Support only stands a chance if I'm within' 2inches of them; or they catch me completely off guard and get to shoot all 200rds. at me.Originally posted by inqueI'm hoping for that too. In contrast, it should be, " See Support character while I'm standing in the open, sprint for cover and pray I make it".
Support is just not the feared surpression machine it should be.

Re: Patch support guns
I don't even think 600m is within visible distance. I'd like to see the LMG be at least marginally effective from a crouching position because often tall grass is obstructing my view whenever I go prone. The funny part about the M249 being horribly inaccurate from anything other than a prone position is EA's owns description of the weapon on their BF2 website.Originally posted by {WP}PaasYou can fire an M249 standing and get a man sized group at 50m. But wait! That's not even the best part.At 15 lbs, [the M249] can be fired from the shoulder, hip, or underarm position.
 Whatever you say, EA, whatever you say.In terms of firepower, one SAW is equivalent to 15 additional riflemen.Comment

If you're talking by game wise. No, it isn't. I'm just giving the real specifications of the weapon. If you where to scale that down into gameplay calculations, I would say that's about 100m or so.

Re: Patch support guns
It's a tradeoff you get for using the heaviest weaponry out there. Not many guns can flatten half a squad in a matter of seconds. The LMGs are all very situational guns, and you really have to create the situations. It's the same as shotguns. Just because you have to maneuver and plan ahead doesn't make the guns suck.Originally posted by {WP}Paas...it's like DICE is supporting the concept of diving to your belly everytime you want to shoot at somthing. I honestly have never thought support needed a buff at all.Comment

I'm already good with the support guns too (don't look at my K:d ratio or accuracy with them, i used to love support but suck at the game, those were my SAW days), now with the MG36, i constatnly get into the top 2-3 on my team, and many times i get a medal, and i almost always get a 1:1+ k:d ratio. U just gotta know how to use em. Anyways, ya, they can flatten squads when on teh defensive.Originally posted by PHPTIt's a tradeoff you get for using the heaviest weaponry out there.
