Grey Screen!

Hi ya all,

I am having serious problems starting up Battlefield 2!! This is getting on my nerves as i could play like 2 weeks ago nicely! The problem is this:

I start my PC>Start>Programs>EA GAMES>Battlefield 2 then all the movies and intros come up. It all works perfectly fine until this point. The 'GREY SCREEN'!! This is supposed to be the login screen but all i can see is plain gery with the white cursor! I know the game works and all because i can here the sound of it but why can't i just see it!!!!!!:cry: :cry:

This is how i tried to solve the problem:
1. Uninstalled battlefield 2 manually
2. Did a system restore
3. Even Reinstalled Windows XP Home!
4. Installed Battlefield 2
5. Downloaded the most latest Graphic Drivers

After all this i still have the 'GREY SCREEN'!

Is there anyway of solving this problem??
Any help would be gratefull

These are my PC Specs anyway:
AMD Sempron 3000+
1GB RAM
GeForce 6800 128MB AGP
120GB Hard Drive
Windows XP Home (Service pack 2)

I just went from a P4 2.26 Ghz to an AMD 3800+ X2.

I moved over my 6800GTOC from my old system, along with my Audigy 2 ZS and the HDD on which BF2 was installed (was data drive in my old system). It's using an Arock DUAL SATA2 motherboard (Combo AGP+PCI-E Motherboard, ULi chipset)

I renamed the original BF2 directory, re-isntalled BF2, re-patched BF2, then renamed the BF2 re-install directory and the original BF2 directory back to what it should be.

When I ran BF2, the game showed me a grey login screen with the menu music playing properly. I could not login and play at this point, as I could not see what I was clicking on. I could click buttons, but I'd not see any changes to the screen.

I ended up fixing that by going to the ULi Website and downloading their Unified Drivers, then re-installing the latest Beta Forcewares 81.87 from nzone.com, followed by Re-installing Dx9.0c (no change on the DX9 install). When all that was done, I could log in and play BF2, but between maps I'd get a solid grey screen with some odd black boxes on the edge.

Last night, I went home and did a bios update, and ended up playing BF2 with no problems for 4 or so hours straight.

the beta nvidia drivers don't play well with the expansion

Uninstall that ULI driver.

It did this to me when I installed a motherboard driver once. All grey screen. All of the textures in the DXDiag texts using DX9 were also messed up.

I uninstalled my VIA chipset drivers and rebooted and the problem was gone.

:::::Conclusions:::::

*** 1. ULI Driver is the problem ***
2. Update Bios
3. Uninstall VIA chipset drivers
4. Dont use beta drivers

yess ahhh noooooo still no luck for me huh probaly no bf2 :cry:
well it depends coz there is lots of internet games that i play bf2 is not the best thing in the world!!!!!!!!!!
