MEC/PLA transport chopper - good for something!

I really like the MEC chopper (dunno the name, sorry. I know it's mi-something). 90% of the time I see it just sitting at the airstrip on most maps going to waste when it could be put to good use. After playing with it for awhile, I've gotten used to the handling and it is surprisingly easier to control than the black hawk.

It's great for taking out other choppers including the attacking variety. Just strap some C4 to the nose, fly straight into some poor bastard, bail and BOOM! I have taken down quite a few choppers like this and the victims are usually surprised at how I killed them so high up in the air with C4. Also great for ramming silly armored brothels that are trying to cap a flag. The other night I took out an APC and a tank that was trying to cap the PLA airstrip on wake island by flying straight into the ground. The victims were actually laughing and thought it was hilarious the way my big ugly chopper blew them up.

I'm also pretty good at running over and crushing infantry as well. I have crushed a few prone snipers trying to camp the big oil drum at the MEC strip on gulf of oman by sneaking up on them and landing right on top of them. OMG could you imagine how they felt... All I know is that it was a pee-pants worthy event, not that I did that :P.

Finally, it's also great when you get a decent squad together. It's not as battle worthy as the BH but you can cap flags just as quickly with it.

Yes, I think Jihad-Helo is the only usefulness of these choppers.

I killed countless BH in Mashtuur with this tactic =)

Hey, C4 bombardment from MEC/PLA chopper anyone? This chopper offers a different approach. If BHAWK is used mainly for its Minigun, the Mi´s open doors in the rear offer other advantages.

        ramming is old. try this:

fly the MEC chopper as support class. have one squadmate sit in the back seat (the one that looks out back) and get him to have c4 ready. you fly over enemy base / tank / blackhawk, he drops all the c4's and boom. just like artillery.

Nice one, did this once in a Blackhawk...

Be careful with your teammates though.

Haha, that's hilarious. I will have to give that a try sometime. Actually, it would be even better to have a couple guys in the back chucking C4. Then you could really lay waste to some armored brothels.

try it with a pilot as support and 2 snipers in the back. fly over an enemy uncap base and drop (literally) hundereds of claymores. always wanted to try this, but never have - is there a limited number of claymores 1 sniper can have down at 1 time?

5 down at one time, and the whole jihad chopper is not new nor is carpet bombing C4 out of it..

There's a limit on the amount of C4 you can drop. Seen it happen once when I tried to chuck infinite pwnage from a supply crate. You can only have like 6 packs of C4 out before they start disappearing. I'm sure it's the same with all mines.

Speaking of ramming... Some people get all bent out of shape when they get rammed... Sorry, but if I'm flying a transport chopper and find myself nose to nose with an attack chopper, you better believe I'm going Jihad. I'm amazed on how many people get ****ed off over it... I see it no different than being a suicide car bomber...

Good for you, you can crash!

By the way there aren't any APC's on Wake Island........

Wow. You people don't seem to grasp that the MEC transport helo flys OUTRAGEOUSLY high.

...that's it niche'. You can transport troops in from elevations that a Jet would rarely look for you. I'm not going to go out on a whim and say that I'm 100% sure of this. Yet, from the time I have had with the two choppers I noticed that the MEC transport helo is able to climb much quicker than the blackhawk, and reach much higher into the skies.

[repeat: I could be wrong. This is what I tend to observe though.]

If people would stop comparing the MEC chopper to the BlackHawk, they would probably notice this feature and use it to their advantage. Heck, you can fly the MEC chopper well out of A.A. range. That's a blessing in it's self.
