    Is this bunny hopping?

Well about 20 in ago, on a 24/7Karkand server, i spawned with my trusty DAO-12, found a enemy, jumped up, and as i fell down, i just shot downwards. He didnt even have a chance to shoot. NOTE: I only jumped once. When he died, he was like "ZOMG NOOB BUNNY HOPPER!!!", then the admin kicked me... Is jumping ONCE then shooting someone in the head bunny hopping? If it is, I will correct myself.

Yes. That's why the patch is going to make it so you can't shoot while jumping. The correlation should be pretty straightforward.

This bunnyhopping business is out of control. You were def not bunnyhopping if there even is such a thing. I call it avoiding getting killed.

I've been called a bunnyhopper a few times, I'm always end up in a situation where I have to jump over sandbags or a wall but I've always landed then shot a guy full of holes.

The one thing I'll miss is jumping and launching a ATs over a wall into a tank.

RULE: A bunny hopper has to jump 3 TIMES, while firing, before getting the title.

Jumping in order to use the hitboxes we can't see to move in a bizarre way so that it becomes unreasonably difficult to hit you, as the hit boxes are not necessarily following your character precisely (in particular, vertically), is my definition of bunnyhopping.

i'm more amazed that a server admin actually booted someone for bunnyhopping because someone said someone else was bunnyhopping. cant say i've ever seen that ever happen before.

the sooner they put an end to bunnyhopping the better. ive been on some servers where you are surrounded by 63 guys bouncing up and down like they got springs in their boot. its spoiling the game.

Jumping once isn't bunny hopping. Bunnies tend to bounce in multiples of around 2 or 3. I have to admit doing the same thing. I see it as more of a reflex than trying to cheat.

BTW the fact that he actually typed ZOMG NOOB BUNNY HOPPER just confirms that he's just another common moron.

You won't be able to shoot while airborne. You bunny hopped in the manner DICE thinks needs fixing.

                        prone spamming > bunny hopping
It's also the fastest way to move when you are out of running stamina.

                          Re: Is this bunny hopping?

I've always been under the impression that Bunny Hopping was when someone jumps repeadetly to make it difficult to hit. more than once is bunny hopping.

What it appears you did is Dolphin Dive. that is where you jump up, then instantly go prone while shooting. This, if you actually look at it is an extremely annoying tactic, as the posture between jumping and prone is huge, and makes you extremely difficult to hit. Meanwhile, the psycological "BAM-BAM-BAM" of the DAO is enough to put anyone off...

So no, you weren't Bunny Hopping, you were dolphin diving, which they are also getting rid of in the patch. Hurrah!

Eh, I think the whole thing is silly. BF2 and the BF2 community is the only FPS community I have ever seen that freaks out that people jump to avoid being shot. What exactly are we supposed to do if we are cought out in the open? Just take it and die? We aren't allowed to avoid getting shot? I could have sworn the point of this game was to, ya know, not die and kill others...

When I was a big Quake and UT player, jumping was life (and jump dodging in UT). If you didn't do it, you died, repeatedly. I don't go out of my way to do in BF2, but I won't lie...sometimes my reflex is to jump when I am trying to avoid bullets.

                              Re: Is this bunny hopping?

There is a difference between jumping to avoid being killed and running up to someone, jumping into the air, and firing down on the top of their head.

With the new patch, people can still jump all they want. They can still jump to avoid being shot and killed. They just won't be able to stand next to someone and hop up and down while shooting them.

Maybe this will teach people to take a more tactical approach to a situation rather than running in full speed and then madly hopping and spamming the ground with GL rounds.
