random black screen and crashes

Hello! I hope someone can help out because this has started to become a real nuisance.

I hadn't played BF2 for 2-3 months but I remember I used to be able to play it with very few problems, but that has not been the case as of late. I'll get these random black screens, where all of a sudden the screen goes black for a few seconds, but I can hear things going on, and then when I get a picture again everything seems laggy for a few seconds. This sometimes causes me to crash to desktop as well.

Has anyone run across this problem before? I've tried a couple differen't drivers but no luck. Is there any driver that you might suggest?

I have a GForce 6600 GT, and a AMD Athlon 64 3200 with 1GB RAM.

Yea I have been having this happen to me ever since I installed the last patch.It never happened before I installed the patch.It really annoys me too.I dont know if video drivers has anything to do with it.I have a GeForce 5700 LE and just updated to the latest drivers I will see if it still happens.

i used to get that when i had 512 ram... i closed unnecesary tasks and it went away.. did a virus scan... spyware scan... so my pc would be like new.. it went away.. but now i gots a gig... so i dont worry as much....
