    VOIP shuts off

I just got a new headset, it works in every other game/application. So I plugged it in and went to play some bf2. I joined server which I knew had voip, i joined a squad and I could not hear them. And when i pressed my mic button I could not see the green mic button. So I disconnected and saw that voip was turned off so i turned it back on. I didnt think much of it. But when i rejoined the server it didnt work again. I checked my audio settings again and saw that it turned off again. I quit again changed voip to on and i went back to see if the settings had saved and they didnt, they kept erasing. So i quit bf2 and did the VOIPsetup test in the bf2 folder. It worked, and i saved my settings. So i opened the game and saw that Voip was enabled. I joined a server and it worked for about 20 secs. I could hear them, they could hear me, then after about 20 secs then voip just turned off(i looked at settings too voip had been turned to off). So i redid the voipsetup test again. went to a server, voip worked fine for about 20 secs then turned off again. Any ideas? thanks

You could try setting up VOIP by using the BF2VoiceSetup.exe and when you're done, set the following file to read-only:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\BattleCommoDefaultUserSettings.con

I had the same prob matey . Turned out to be the drivers for sound card and I couldn't get it to work with new drivers either . I am now using a Plantronics USB headset and have no probs at all.

Are you talking about going to the file in battefield2 and executing the setup from there or using the in-game voip setup.

I tried using the actual set-up exe. it opened a dos file

Also I had a problem with my VOIP "AFTER" I downloaded and installed the patch. Voip was acting weird and setup wouldn't work.

I downloaded a new sound driver upgrade audio97 or something I think.
Then my VOIP didn't at all

Couldn't even get the in-game setup to work. No voice, no sound.

Anyway, I think the problem was the upgrade included the option of mic1 and mic2, I don't ever remember having those options before.

I'm assuming thats the mic port in the front panel and the mic port on the back of the computer.

VOIP was using the port on the back. I had to change the mic port location. After that VOIP worked fine. So did the in-game setup.

So you are saying that mobo sound doesnt support voip?
Iv got mobo sound maybe thats why it wont work for me...

                      Re: VOIP shuts off

I have the same issue of it turning off once i'm actually on a server.

I'm not completely sure what my audio card is, but i think its a realtek ac97.

                      Help would be greatly appreciated.
