Ram or processor power more important?

Attached is my dxdiag.txt file...

As you can see I have the min. required processor power (1.7GHz Celeron), and a 512 + 256 = 768 Gig DDR400 Ram.

I want to have my online experience run a little smoother, as in up close fights, I often have no shot. I have a very capable internet connection and I am sure that is not the weakest link... 1.5MB down/1.5MB Up etc...

What would I be best to do with my money, buy say a gig of ddr400 ram, and replace my 256 gig ddr stick with this 1gig ram totalling 1.5 gigs.. or would this be a waste of money, due to my processor limiting my upgrade.

What I mean is, if I upgrade my ram to 1.5 gig, will I experience better (essentially fixing my problem) gameplay online, or will the fact that i still have a 1.7Ghz processor limit any good that the ram could do?

Or do I have to upgrade computer processor (whole new pc system)?

I have current drivers for my graphics card, and current bf2 updates etc.. Everything is up to date...

No way you need a new prosser first.

Processor and ram need a good mobo to get best performance. If a mobo is not in your near future, get your ram up to 1gb. Then when you can afford it, step up to a new mobo/processor.Your Intel D845PESV is not the best mobo for gaming since you should have a P4 and this mobo will not support it.

Get RAM now, OC ur CPU slightly, then when you can, new CPU (and mobo to get 939 socket and Pci-e). What vid card do you have?? This could be a bigger problem.

Exactly, to the other guys. He is asking if a ram upgrade will do him good. It will, ofc a new mobo cpu and faster mem will be better. But as his rig now stands. The ram will be of much more value than a cpu upgrade. And if he has a decent vid card with enough ram, he could enjoy battlefield 2 at the fullest. Built my brother a rig with an amd xp1500 overclocked to an amd xp1800, 6600GT 256MB card, 1.5 GB of ram and he plays at 1600*1200 4aa, high settings around the constant 30 fps. The game is gpu and ram dependent. Hope it helps. Good drivers help also: www.tweaksrus.com .

Also I have everything (graphics/audio) on low...

p.s. is it easier on the cpu to run audio on hardware or software in the options:audio section?

Upgrade your ram. Download the latest G-Extreme drivers from tweaksrus . And you'll be able to play at medium. You're in luck because you have a bad card, but it still has 256 mb of vid mem. If you have a soundcard which is supported in theory it should make the cpu work abit less.
