Question about Pings

ok...stupid question but like ive said before...im new to this and i understand the pings are like connection speeds...i take it the lower the ping better right?? is it better to look for a server that is near my ping??what are the red yellow green color things on the far left on the server page...ping 999 i see a lot and its green..i know this is dumb but can somebody explain this to me

Ping is not connection speed.

Ping is latency.

Lower IS better. You aren't matching pings..you're going for the lowest one you can find. That usually means that either a) the server is closest to you or b) there are fewer/higher quality connection hops between you and that server.

pings under 100 is best. over 100, u can get lag, and connection problems.
