Anyone else having sound problems recently? The patch was released sometime early last night. It immediately gave me some insane sound glitches. I figured ok my soundcard just took a dive but I'm seeing more and more people complaining. Maybe it's only people who have EAX enabled that the punkbuster is messing something up. I resorted to my old sb live value and the sound is horrible but no glitch digital distortion noises.

I am only hearing a loud beep when a map first starts or right after it loads we have the same sound card is this the noise your referring to? -

Hmmm, i have no idea, i know Battlefield tends to make my sound Card crash, kinda funny, i will finaly login to a server and Bang the sound is dead, Funny thing is as soons as BF2 gets closed down its fine again :P hmmm Another ****up i say!Comment

Wow I thought I was the only one having these problems. Some messed up sounds during the game which could last for a while sometimes and are very very annoying! I thought it was my speakers at first but everything worked fine outside of bf2, so I have no idea how to fix it other than reinstalling bf2 and I don't even know if that will help.
Edit: I have an audigy 1 and I have EAX enabled btw, I'll try to disable it and see if it'll change anything.Comment

Me too. My Xfi has been really buggy. Sometimes when BF2 loads my sound is hosed and I need to re-boot then re-enter BF2 where it works fine again. Hopefully they will fix this glaring bug.Comment

Audigy 2 w/EAX enabled and I was having the same kind of anomolies today. Also suffering from some weird lag at the beginning of every round that wasn't there before.Comment

I have a problem when i disable the music, every time I enter a server the music starts and just before finishing loading booom smoke grenade sound and silence.. verifing client data , and join in... crazy!Comment

I think pb was recently patched as it is only a recent problem and since i know now its not just me i feel far closer to being sane.
For me its at the start of a round with what seems like lag, but actually its the exact same stutter i get when taking a screenshot and if pb can take screenshots thats what it is. The sound i dont understand as that isnt a sound the game is making and since the game aint changed i assume its all down to a pb update.
I also run an audigy something or other but if not everyone knows what were on about which apparently they dont i may seek out an updated driver.Comment

The sound in the beginning is fine till about 20 to 30 seconds in, you hear a big digital glitch distorted sound "imagine chalk boards slamming together with razor blades scratching the surface". Then you have no firing sounds then it just goes downhill from there, the noise becomes so bad it's not even worth having the headphones on. At first I was blaming the audigy 4 value then I saw others with this problem...
Funny how now I gotta worry about more than just EA's patch maybe messing up the game. If the sound is taken away me and my tank "OLGA" are scr3wed. Yes I named her "OLGA" there are many like her but she is mine, jk.
I saw somewhere on here or on the net of delaying the punkbuster check a little longer so maybe it will buy you a few more seconds before the crash of the sound. Here it is.
"When you enter a game press the ` key to bring up the console and enter: pb_sleep 500 then press enter.
now type: pb_writecfg to save.
It stops pb checking your hard disk every 20 seconds, instead it checks it every 500 seconds, and before you ask, this is the maximum setting supported by Punkbuster"
I haven't tried, I also heard it gives you a little less jitter but again I don't know first hand.Comment
