    Re: Community Update 1/31/06

    And finally…

    - The Red/Blue nametag bug has been addressed

Regarding the last point, what we have done is make the code more secure to try and prevent any cases where this bug may occur. Since the fix has been in place, we have had no reproduction of the bug in testing.
OMFG !! they finaly are going to do something about it , OMFG again .

Not trowing nades as far , good for me, to many nade trowing going on in my opinion, people must start shooting again instead of blowing eachother up .

Medic packs, and ammo not trowing so far anymore, not a real problem , but sometimes it was handy

about the not beeing able to pick up, ow well, who cares .

patch beeing later, offcouse I want to see the patch ASAP , but it's good to delay something that has isues instead of releasing an unfinished piece of crap

Sure it is a little bit of a bummer-especially picking up mines etc., but I say well done Dice well done. They are keeping us in the loop and really striving to have a good patch. You can't ask for more, and I hope this sets a precedent
        Very good job

Sometimes it is far more effective to blow someone up rather than rattling off a clip trying to shoot the poor player.

I support the upcoming patch so far everything on my "List" seems to be addressed.

Now what we need in the next patch (1.3?) is more implementation of secure code. We need a more secure code to prevent hacks and cheats... like aimbots for example... or like having several commanders in the same game.... or making the arty with zero recharge time... etc... all of those problems can be solved by writing more secure code.

Saw it coming... Please tell me no one is actually shocked by this.

Also, another bit of bad news is that the new feature that allows player to pick up deployed mines with the G key is being held back. In the end, we felt it just wasn’t complete enough for public consumption. We at DICE apologize to all of you who were eagerly awaiting this feature.
Not...complete enough? Just use the BF1942 way and make a wrench required. Ups teamwork, uses something known to work already from the previous installtion of the series, and you don't have to hold things back. Win-win situation.

              - Being able to pass through walls using a spinning tank turret has been fixed. It has also been addressed on all rotating vehicle positions just to be safe.
              - The disappearance of tank projectiles and grenade launcher projectiles during online play has been improved and should occur less frequently
              - The distance for throwing hand grenades, ammo packs, and health packs has been increased.
I wasn't quite aware projectiles disappeared. Them GOING THROUGH things, yes. But not disappear. Hopefully it improves the same problem. And glad to see the grenade/ammo/health distances improved.

I'll remain skeptical on this, but at least they're working on it. Only releasing the fix to the masses will truely put this to the test with all the team switchers and much greater statistical possibility of it happening at random. :-P If it does indeed fix it, then bravo. If not...GO BACK TO BF1942 NAMETAGS. So much simpler.

There are certain servers that implement the team switch between rounds as well and I've found these servers have a high prevalence of the red tag/blue tag bug. It's not just individuals team switching.

I play on two serves regulary that switch teams every round, and have never seen it on either, and another that doesn't switch at all, and is real bad with it. There is no common denominator that I have found.

Yep, I guess you're right. Initially I was angry reading this, but I believe AJ gave some very good reasons for the delay. Oh well, I am sad though that the G key functionality has been removed, that was looking sweet.

Glad DICE are listening to our concerns.

Anyone impressed or surprised how fast DICE reacted to the "tank-spinning" glitch? It was only introduced to the community one or two weeks ago.

Anyways, I'm glad they delayed the patch along with informing us.

See, posting stuff in the forums DOES get results.

Glad it's delayed for the right reasons.

Good news about being able to throw med packs further and great news about the red/blue bug which appears on most of the 64 player servers I play on.

In the end, EA are giving us more news and more often which can never be a bad thing.

i was hoping someone would notice that....

if you think about it, imo its the biggest news there (& prolly one of the biggest reasons for a delay)

this means no more wondering how long itll take the tard inside the hotel on karkand to get bored & leave so you can actually play the game again

i hope they just made all the interiors of buildings youre not supposed to be in hurt you.... like server side modding maps in 42 with invisible barbed wire in the known glitches... its fast, easy & gives those retards another death everytime they get in there until they figure out what happened
