server refused the connection

Help. im getting the message when i try to login "the server has refused the connection" anyone know what that means it was fine yesterday!!

How are you connecting..are you simply using the in-game browser and clicking a server and then hitting 'JOIN' or are you using 'Connect to IP' or a 3rd party application?

Sometimes it is because you specified the wrong port. Not all servers use the standard 16567 port.

dont even get that far can't even get to server list it just hangs while trying to login

Oh..so you are getting connection refused while trying to connect to the gamespy login server then?

If so..what have you changed since yesterday? (anything at all)

i just start up bf2 as normal click my name click login an it loads then i get that error message dont go through gamespy

But BF2 actually USES Gamespy for the login.

Do you have a software firewall running? If so, please disable.

I just tried and I was able to log in just fine.

yeah i got zonealarm but that usually allows bf2 fine. oh well i will try n disable see if that works. 1 more thing after about 2 hours of playing i get weird flashes of black n white and mad pixels all over the place like the graphics are messed up dont know why but i have to restart game strange

ZoneAlarm is a LOT more invasive than you might think. ZA was giving me problems with BF2 that went away once I uninstalled it completely.

It's that bloody TrueVector.

I am using an OLD version of Tiny Personal Firewall.

Use anything from here if you like to have a minimal firewall when/if you need one:
