I had this idea awhile ago though I forgot to share it, but recently I was reminded of it when I saw a server putting this idea into action (it was called something like "War is hell" or "Men of honor" IIRC). More servers should really do this, as it would be a good way of enforcing rules like "no punishing accidental tks". Probably on most servers, if a smacktard sees he's tked by an admin, he'll forgive. With this though, you could keep the smacktards in constant fear of wrongdoings.

We do this all the time. People seem to check whether there is an admin or <<R2>> on and abide by the rules. As soon as it "seems" there isn't one on they run a muck.
The trouble with the tkpunish is it can be hard to tell who did it. Say I was flying a BH and a plane rams me and I get 5tk's for everyone in the BH and only 1 of them punishes. There is no way to tell who punished. It won't show in BR footage as well. The only way to tell is if it happens to you personally and there is only 1 possible person it could be. -

What's really needed is an admin mode for BF2. A way for only certain people to log in and get a full streaming log as well as a birds eye view of the action. You should be able to jump to any player and see full stats on who killed who with what while in what. Ideally, you'd even include a jump to event feature or follow any player by clicking his model or via a list.
That would be a solution... rather than a bandaid.
Not gonna happen, tho.

I used to log into our CS server under different names, i must say typing admin_ban that many times may have damaged my fingers but its crazy what people will try and get away with just cos they think no ones looking.
I soon learnt not to where the tags when other members werent about, or im evil.
If you never try it you never realise the truth about what goes on behind your back, since your paying for it i think admins should at least get some pleasure via the big red ban button.Comment

I would love something like that gimpy. In fact I would love to enable free cam on the server however, it would need to be passworded and only for admin use otherwise players would use it to cheat and find out the location of the enemy.
That way I could fly around the whole map and get a better overview of what is going on rather than only being able to use chase cam which sometimes doesn't give you a big enough field of view. Also it wouldn't limit me to being on one side or the other, having to switch to follow around a player.Comment

Who cares about punished anyway, all they do is count towards a kick and you if you're TKing even by accident that much than you should be kicked anyway. Granted, there's always the pilot of the BH getting TKs for all passengers, but in that instance the peole in the BH should know that the pilot didn't do it anyway. Other than that, there's no mass accidental TKs I can think of that can't be avoided. Bombers, look at your mini map, see blue don't drop bombs. People running into the alleys in Karkand? Stop spamming grenades. Maybe the alley that your team mates are spawning and fighting in to defend the Hotel flag ISN'T a good place for your C4 boobytrap after all, just maybe. DUDE, YOU RAN OVER MY MINE!!! WTF!!?!?!, next time don't cover the road leading to the Northern flags on Wake when you KNOW that battle hungry soldiers are going to be rushing up there in jeeps and tanks to get the flag back, or at least use them more responsibily.
The whole TK/punish system is way out of whack anyway. But it would be cool if they had this feature, it could help weed out some griefers.Comment

The PTG server I play does this, almost always there will be admins on either not wearing tags or using dummy accounts, it does work most times yea.Comment

Getting punished for accidental TK’s sucks, especially when you own teammate runs into your AT mine or claymore… I never punish for things like that… I’m a little ticked that it’s not being fixed in the new patch… But for all other TK’s that your like WTF, I only punish if I don’t get an apology. Only takes one second to hot key “Sorry”… If I don’t get it by the time I spawn… PUNISH…Comment

We had this debate a month ago regarding the TK/Punish system, but to no avial. I don't get enough accidental TK's in a round to get kicked for it, so I don't give a rat's ass if I get "punished" or not.

I never punish unless it was deliberate. Only the prats of this world choose to tk and its blatent, everyone else does it by mistake. Unfortunately the number of people that punish everytime means theres little reason to attempt to say sorry- ironicly fewer who say thanks to the rare breed who dont punish. BTW it takes about 16 seconds to hot key sorry when your dead , longer if you diddnt realise
The system for tk kicks is badly thought out given the scope and number of possible tks that can happen by accident with the BH. I think its based on points? which is daft as people can tk for planes all night without an auto kick as they can make the points back up in seconds. I think they should include an extra column alongside total, teamwork, kills, deaths and call it tk's, might even help people know when a vote is worthwhile or just another 12 year old complaining he got shot. Wouldnt help with the BH problem but overall easier for all to judge. That shouldnt be that hard to do since tk stats are recorded anyway on the server.
I like the idea of freeview for admins, as it is and although i dont know much it would appear that an admin simply isnt given enough information inspite of the game being capable of it.Comment

Most GOOD admins shouldn't be playing, they should be in a pure spectate mode or watch the servers going's on through a command line interface, they should only log on with admin privilages when they need to exercise those privilages, and then dissapear just as fast.
Least disruption to the game, the most effective way to kick/ban idiots/cheaters etc.
Unfortunatly a lot of admins now a days are kids with too much pocket money for servers, or clans who let their new 11 year old friend have access and the behaviour you get it lame, some examples:
I've been banned for spawn camping a flag i was trying to capture in the middle of the map, i just happened to be doing well and killed some guys about 6-7 of them in a row. Been kicked for accidental kamakazis into heli's from a plane, i was asked to apologise and i lol'd and was kicked, it goes on and on.Comment

Happened to me last night, was getting owned by some guy on Wake with tank. I jumped in one took back our flags and started paying him back. After about 10 min I get kicked and banned. The admin were on my team so not sure who did it. Weak server anyway was getting raped by heli for 2 rounds prior, they were admin so I guess that makes it ok.Comment
