Re: VOIP teamspeak adn ventrillo
A lot of people don't talk on VOIP or don't have a mic. Just keep trying different servers and squads until somebody replies. Ask them if they can hear you and type a reply if they don't VOIP. If you have a friend on BF2 get in the same server and see if he can hear you.

Re: VOIP teamspeak adn ventrillo
Our server has working VOIP and people actually use it. Just join a squad and ask if someone can hear you.
We also have Teamspeak and people looking to join us can jump on our TS and get to know us by playing a few games with us. The IP is spammed in game and is also on our main page www.r2clan.com in the server info block.
Abuse of our TS will get you banned quick smart though!

Re: VOIP teamspeak adn ventrillo
Assuming you have downloaded teamspeak (common, go google it!);
If you want to know if your mic is working check out the settings tab and under sound settings you can do a mic check. Options lets you configure settings so you don't have to hear people speak via the headset or vice versa with people not talking to via the speakers.
From there you can just join a server and see if anyone is in it or if the people are friendly.
21SF should offer some fun if you have the X-pack.

Re: VOIP teamspeak adn ventrillo
I find that at least half of the servers that state they have VOIP enabled, don't. When ever we join a new server, that's the first thing we check. If it doesn't work, more than likely we will leave. We have a TS server and use it to coordinate games, but it's not as useful as VOIP in BF 2.

Ventrilo ownes....you cna use both vent and voip all you ahve to do is assign a key to activate centrilo. Perosnally I use LALT, since it has not assigned purpose in game anyway.

Correction, ventrillo owns as long as you don't have a Audigy 2 NX, or a Soundblaster X-Fi.Originally posted by Revoluti0nVentrilo ownes....you cna use both vent and voip all you ahve to do is assign a key to activate centrilo. I'm less than impressed with Ventrilo as is.

I use LALT for TS however it does have an assigned usaged in game. It turns the 3d map on and off. So it turns on/off things like the flag distances, the little skull/crossbones for friendly mines/claymores etc. I have to remember to hit it twice otherwise I end up running over a friendly mine.Originally posted by Revoluti0nVentrilo ownes....you cna use both vent and voip all you ahve to do is assign a key to activate centrilo. How is teamspeak not as useful as the IG VOIP BF2 provides? TS is 100 times better than IG VOIP. And for those TS haters just use Ventrillo.

Why don't you just clear that key assignment in the options. How often does some one really turn off the 3d map?Originally posted by <<R2>>Capt.HKSI use LALT for TS however it does have an assigned usaged in game. It turns the 3d map on and off. 1. Unless you have a lot of people in your clan and playing at the same time in the same server in the same squad, you need something that anyone in the game can use to talk with you.Originally posted by Pilioka

2. The feature of lowering the volume while talking with VOIP is a must in a game with as many noises as this game has. In order to hear people talking while in a vehicles or helicopter, you have to turn the game sounds down (no good) or turn up TS (no good either).
3. With VOIP, you can see who is talking. This is useful for people who join your squad.

Re: VOIP teamspeak adn ventrillo
2-3 people on TS is better than using IG VOIP any day. The sound is crappy and no good.1. Unless you have a lot of people in your clan and playing at the same time in the same server in the same squad, you need something that anyone in the game can use to talk with you.
My IG sound is down, but if you shoot at me you better kill me because I will still turn directly to the sound and shoot you first. In vehicles I can still hear people talk on TS and hear everything else needed to be heard.2. This is a useful feature if you are actually playing with random gamers. But in my experience only 12 year olds or very inexperienced gamers use the IG VOIP.3. With VOIP, you can see who is talking. This is useful for people who join your squad.
In the end it's just not as good as it could be. It's also rarely used.

I mapped the reload to the wheel click on the mouse and set R as my 3D Map toggle key. Works like a charm! :)Originally posted by <<R2>>Capt.HKSYeah I really should get around to it, seeings how I have been re-mapping keys lately, that one always slips my mind, DOH!
