I am a regular on TNT Wake/Karkand only server, 48 persons, relatively ordered and almost always full.

Is it just me or does this argument not make any sense. I don't know about you but I always aim so that it increases my chance of getting a hit. Even if I'm using an accuarte weapon I still fire a the middle of my targets chest to ensure that I am most likely to hit him. Sure at closer ranges a G3 will have almost as good a chance of hitting using this technique as a M4 but as the range increases the G3 loses effectiveness much quicker than the M4. So no matter how well you place your shots at longer range the G3 is going to miss most of the time.

Also on the few occasions when I acctually have time to aim carefully for a head shot I would prefer to be able to aim for the head instead of aim for the upper chest and hope it hits the head.

just joined your server, Bfa, did pretty well in it, in fact, had a streak of around 6 kills, and a 2 or so K/D for awhile. I recorded it in battlecorder, showing my battle with hoppers, C4 tossers, noob tubeers, snipers and such.

Only PKM was used, no bunnyhoping, no dolphin diving.

That's good. I was on the [XSF] server for most of the night since GzR was full when I started playing.

You probably would have had an even better round if you used a better gun.

Anyway, we'll meet up soon. I tried to find the TNT server, but despite my searches for the name, symbols, etc. etc. I could not find it.

I beat all other assault classes with my g3, I always have it on semi, use it as a pistol that can do 40 damage per shot :)

There's simply no "trick" to using any gun on single shot. The G3 has a poorbase accuracy, far poorer than the other rifles. Its being given a slight tweak. Being prone and using ironsights do give you an accuracy bonus, but , for example, an m16 will hit closer to the aimed point more often than a g3 simply because it has a better base accuracy.

The G3 does get a boost, but its a very small tweak applicable mostly to single shots.

Anyway IMO if your using a support weapon more than medium range your mad all your doing is giving away your position and just asking for a SF class player to take you out. And I've posted this before and ill post it again out of the support weapons id put them in this order :-

MG36 (when prone and at close to medium range this things has the most stopping power this weapon makes the support class playable for me)
RPK (nice allround weapon)
PKM (has the magic 1 bullet kill effect well it seems that way anyway)
M249 (this thing is rubbish id only use it a very close range to take out bunny hoppers because of the insane spread)

I've used the PKM nearly 100 hours and even though it's got a great punch, the accuracy sucks, even from small distance. G3 and the G36 variations are probably the best choices. Also the pistols are very accurate too, except they don't do much damage.

Basically, all guns in BF2 can be extremely accurate if a some compensation for the deviation cone is used, namely by lowering the aim.

I don't get it. Do you mean I'm supposed to aim @ the chest in order to land a headshot? Isn't it exactly opposite, to aim above, depending on distance?

I didn't make the original post but I think this is what he means. When using a weapon with low accuracy like the G3 the random deviation means the bullet has equal chance of landing anywhere inside 'cone of deviation'. Basically imagine putting circle over the target to represent the cone of deviation. Once this circle is bigger than the head of your target you want to aim lower so that the targets head is still in the top of the circle but more of the circle is then over the target instead of in the air above his head. While this won't actually increase the chance of landing a head shot it does increase the chance of hitting him if you miss the head.

Hopefully that was what Hu.Z_of_PLA meant and even more I hope it made sense.

I have 428 hours on Support and I'd put the weapons in this order...

MG36 - better than the rest for the long barrel heat
RPK - good if you know how to use it
PKM - good if you know how to use it
SAW - good if you know how to use it
Type 95 - good if you know how to use it

anyways, I've tried using the G3 alot too and I've pretty much just come to assume that the thing was intended for CQC because of how ****ty it is at range, you would think otherwise though because it has the longest barrel of all the assault rifles and when you look at it it looks like it would be great at long range but nope.

I've been headshoted by both the G3 and PKM while on the water tower prone on mastuur. One guy got me twice from the hill with the G3, the PKM came from the mosque. This was all in a span of 10 minutes. Bizarre stuff, looking forward to some crying when they improve support accuracy.
