PB problem even in Single Player mode???

Like everyone else, things worked before PB's latest update. Even though I have a fairly wimpy system I still was able to play... enjoyably.

Then came the blue screens (I have Wiin 2000). When I heard about the second update I jumped over to install it and ... no more blue screen!!! Now it just freezes on the Spawn screen; really weird, the forward part of the screen with the map and team/weapon selection (and my cursor) all freeze. The background runs smoothly along, with the sounds (we're loosing people...), soldiers and vehicles moving past, things crashing... But I'm stuck, sitting there drooling, I can't even escape the screen. The only thing that I can do to get out is Cont/Alt/Delete.

I assumed, and still do, that it's all PunkBuster. But the only thing is, it still does the same thing on Single player. Not every single time, once in a while it allows me to slip into single player (never multi), but when I exit the single player game the computer acts all bogged down, like it's in bad need of restarting.

I can understand the possible problem with multiplayer, my computer only has 512 mb ram (though it always worked fine before on Low/Med settings, but why would a Punkbuster issue effect single player???

My specs are AMD 2.6, IVidia G Force FX 5700LE w/256MB DDR AGP, and like I said 512 MB ram.

    Sooooo.....

Any idea why it's suddenly not handling even a single-player game it could before???

So it was working for ages before and not suddenly it d oesn't?

I find it hard to believe that it's a punkbuster problem though as you can just unplug the Inet connection, play in singleplayer and PB won't have any impact on your game.

Are you trying to say that you have lost control of the mouse and keyboard when you join a map as there is a known fix for that problem.

Yes, everything went downhill after the blue-screen/PunkBuster thing.

      That's what I thought too.

      Uhhmmmm... What???
Like I said, my cursor sitting over the Map and Team/weapon selection boxes freezes, but not the stuff going on in the background. My cursor won't move, and the escape key doesn't do anything. No key does anything except Cont/Alt/Delete, or Cont/Shift/Esc both of which bring me back to my desktop with the game still running in the same condition if I go back in.

OK, so you got me thinking... I had assumed that since I wasn't signing into my (new) dsl connection that it wasn't online.

        Wrong.

I was going to physically unplug the wire... but then I got to looking at the Login box where it says Manage Accounts... and then Create Account; There was a tab for single player that basicly created an off line character. It worked I guess like unplugging the internet, thought I didn't try that.

Anyway, now I can at least play Single Player (lame), maybe better then nothing.

        Sigh.

Hopefully like PunkBuster said, the servers will start getting in line with the new update and maybe I'll be able to play w/o having to buy more ram and a new graphics card which I can't afford yet.

        Edited by me:
By the way, ptegan, what did you mean by:

I meant that if you're playing multiplayer and you join a server and everything looks perfect expect the mouse won't move and the keyboard seems blocked then there is a solution to that.

Go into Options -> settings and revery the controls back to default.
