So what new weapons would you like to see in the future?

I’m not a gun nut in the slightest, but I have to admit it is an interesting subject matter. So I was thinking what if say EA added more weapons even still to say a booster pack, perhaps more weapons with the Armored Fury booster pack whereby the US gets a different set of weapons than what is in vanilla BF2. So I did a little research and found an informative web site on world guns, now keep in mind I was looking for weapons that would be plausible for US troops to use, either American weapons or European weapons, and I think it would be cool to add the following weapons:

Assault – XM8 Assault rifle

New rifle the US military is considering changing over to, I believe last I heard it was a go and they will begin procurement of these rifles.

Engineer – USAS-12 Full auto shotgun

Another full auto shotgun modeled after the M16, similar to the other full auto shotgun in the game.

Medic – Bushmaster M-17s

Don’t know much about it, just looks cool :)

AT – Ruger MP9

Submachine gun for personal defense

Sniper – Barret M98? Might be a little too powerful unless tweaked for game balance

Heck, the XM8 could take the Support, Sniper, Soldier and Covert Op roles, A very versatile weapon.

You're right, the XM8 looks badass and very versatile. I was thinking it would be nice to have a variety of weapons. There's also the XM25 which is a grenade launcher only I think? (could be wrong) and I thought it would be cool for AT or Engineer class but it would take away from having the ability to take out infantry in close quarter combat.

As of September of last year it doesn't look like the XM8 will be adopted. Seems to be leaning more towards the SCAR.

Anyway, I would like to see anything but a shotgun given to engineers. Heck, give the poor guys a mac 10 or a M12.

isnt the xm8 a us army modification of the heckler g36?..im pretty sure im right..if so ..then we've already got it, and its variations in bf2 already.

None, because all weapons added from now on will only be available in the booster/exp-packs (not as global unlocks, because of the amount of RAM it requires) and I won't buy any booster-packs, ever.

Keep in mind the game is a work of fiction, but we still have to stay somewhat within the bounds of reality, having the xm8 in future content would just be something different, a breath of fresh air if you will.

drats.. unlike most of you, I actually liked the Xm8. I think it looks really nice. I use it all the time in Ghost Recon: Summit strike.
