Crash to desktop while loading map

Ive searched and searched and searched but to no avail. My game crashes to the desktop with no arning while loading a map.....Its Vanilla version...just BF2, no patches (i get patching failed)
Any ideas?

there is at least one post per a page about ur game crashing to desktop and 91% or while there loading.

crack ur comp open and put a house fan on it. It always crashed for me, to the point that i bought a new sound card, vid card and ram, and it turned out to be just getting a little hot.
