Please help, battlefield 2 demo running at 1fps

When I install the demo, the game runs great, but after a crash or sometimes just exiting normally, when i go to play again later on it runs at about 1 fps, the menus are fine, but the game is unplayable.

This doesn't happen to any other game. My specs are athlon 2800+XP, 1.25gb ram, radeon 9800pro.

Any ideas? Thanks.

(I've tried deleting the config folder in My Docs, but that doesn't work, reinstalling the demo DOES work, but this obviously isn't an ideal solution)

well, its not that hard to reinstall the demo. It takes like 5 minutes to uninstall and then reinstall. Just do that if it works. Because it could be numerous things affecting the gameplay to make it 1 fps.

BlackHawkPilot73, why would I buy a full version of a demo that doesn't work properly, that would be moronic. Is that what you would do?

Bring up Task Manager (control-alt-delete) after you quit BF2 and make sure you don't have processes such as BF2.exe or ~e5.0001 (or similar) still running.
