Movie editing software?

Im making a movie with my clan we have a few ideas but we are stuck on what movie editing software to get.
Does anyone have any good software to recomend?

i use vegas 6.0 and its really good. i find it easy to use.

Yeah Vegas is probably the easiest to learn for the best quality.

Starting out you can use Windows Movie Maker which you already have as part of Windows XP. It to produces really nice movies and easy to use effects.

Vegas and Premiere Pro are the top guns, they are both capable of making first class video. It's up to personal preference which one you think is better for you.
I'm really learning both atm, premiere pro has some filters and effects I might need whereas Vegas is allot easier for me to put the whole movie together.
I'm also trying to "get my hands" on a trail version of After Effects, I don't know if 7.0 is that much better than 6.5. (I'm a version junkie )

I use Adobe Premiere and I love it but I've never used Vegas so I don't know if it's any good or not.

Vegas and Adobe premier and ofcourse Windows Movie Maker. Adobe After Effects is useful too.

I'm in the same boat as NeoRicen. I use Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 and think it's fantastic but I've never used Sony Vegas so I can't really compare the two.

Actually, whenever the subject's raised, I think of that softball episode of "The Simpsons" when Homer asks Daryl Strawberry, "Are you better than me?" and DS replies, "Well ... I've never met you, but ... yes."

By that I mean, even without having used Vegas, I get the impression (mainly from research and learning about other people's experiences) that APP 1.5 is a slightly better option. Of course, the only way to know for sure is to play around with both and draw your own conclusions.

I should probably do the same thing ...

Adobe Premiere Pro and Vegas 6.0 are the best choices. I've never used Vegas, just Premiere Pro, but I got the impression from other people that Premiere Pro is harder to use, but it yeilds better results. Also, I heard that Vegas has better titles.
