    Language Filter

Now i know everyone says 'there server there rules' and yeah i can respect that.

But why is it that so many servers have such strict langauge rules? I mean does everyone who has a server really care that much? It seems like no matter what server u go on u say 'ffs' or 'wtf' or whatever and u get a warning.

And just now i was playing on TV2 server 8 Wake Island and i said at the end of a round 'i can't believe we lost we kicked chinas ass' and i got autokicked!?!?! Not even a warning i mean thats a bit harsh isn't it?

Incidently the reason i said it is that throughout the match we had virtually every base and on a couple of occasion we has every base on the map and yet we still lost? I think the scoring system is a bit screwed up tbh.

      Re: Language Filter

rather than monitoring for the words and kicking they should just be stared out. It is so STUPID that they kick for using acronyms though. When I say "wtf" I could mean what the fudge? omg could be oh my gosh. Or some other flaming interpretation. Stop kicking and start filtering you "*******" morons.

Yea, when you encrypt your curse words like WTF or BS and they warn or kick you for it that is effin stupid and shouldn't be doable. The only thing I think needs filtered is racism, sexism ETC.

P.S. KFJ isn't "so others may live" the USAF PJ's phrase? LOL WTF

It's my guess that all the servers use the same admin utility and those language rules are the default settings.

no, default has 4 words, they definetly add the words themselves.

I agree. I was playing on this great server, low ping, great players, etc. Was into my 4th round when I got in a the pig chopper and saw a guy that spawned and started running towards me. So i waited, and he ran right up to me, pulled out a flashbang and banged me! it was like...wtf dude? So I simply said in team chat "you a**hole". A minute later I was kicked out of the server. Till this time i had ranked in the top 3, been playing as like the only medic on the team...and so forth. So went back and asked why I didn't get a warning instead of the kick, and was threated with a ban for arguing with the admin?!

Needless to say that he kept telling me it was in the rules...ok, so here was the problem...there were no rules listed...not even in the start up, it just said "follows the rules or be kicked". No rules displayed ingame either...so I asked this admin where was the rule about language and all the other rules. Aparently you have to go to their website for the list of rules (yet another thing that was not posted was a address to their site)

So...frankly I was a tad annoyed by that...I'm really kind of sick and tired of these "rules" people have in their servers. ya they paid for them and blah blah, but if you are going to admin, and someone breaks a rule, they should get a warning, not an auto kick. And for rules like, no using artillery, no using armor, admins are only ones allowed in choppers/jets/armor....those shouldn't even be allowed to be running. I think the point I was trying to make about all this was if you are going to have rules...then make them known in game or people wont know them.

On a side note, I joined that server again a few days later just because I didn't realize it was the same one from before. Surprise surprise...all of a sudden rules had been posted in the loading screen that weren't there before.

My clans server is an example of the more stricter laguage filters.
Mainly this is because we have a youth group in our clan that consists mainly of members Children ages 11- 17. So for the younger ones especially we want a cleaner environment.

Because of the environment we provide we have also gotten the consent of some of the parents of the youth groups friends to give the OK for their kids to play on our servers. And yes our filter has abbreviations in it too.
Just because it's an abbreviation doesn't make the meaning any less of a swear word. Saying FU still means F*** YOU. So tell me what's the difference?

Yes I'm sure most youth today know what those words and their 'shortcuts' but why should we promote it when we can still have a full server without it?

^^^ you have a VERY VERY screwed perspective of whats suitable for children mate.

This game is meant for a 16+ age range for one thing.

For another do you honestly expect anyone to swallow your theory that its ok to have underage children playing a game depicting killing people but its not ok for them to see someone type the word ass in chat?

I seriously hope you don't have children.

Our youth group is Comprised of MEMBER'S CHILDREN.
This means that their parents already know what kind of content that is in the game and have given their children consent to play it.
Also, the non-member's kids we have here...we have recorded their parent's consent on our TS system before allowing them in the group.

I have 2 children and they enjoy watching me PLAY A GAME.
The point that I make them understand is that it is a game...not RL.
It's the kids that don't understand that difference that become a problem.
Do you have kids Mr "I-know-what's-good-for-kids-better-than-you-do"?

Oh yea...At least I'm not promoting Drug use in my Signature.

the particular 16+ rating on the front of the box certainly doesnt give anyone a leg to stand on when they use the argument of under 16's playing online in a discussion about swearing in game etc.....but it is the admins duty and responsibilty to state rules and then they must be adhered to. ive seen the "we have young children using our server" quite a lot and it does make me quite angry. So what if an under 16 was in your squad and said squad was using teamspeak, how would you control the use of obscenitys and who is to blame??? the person allowing the under 16 to play a 16+ rated game i should think.

i cannot stand people saying i should not swear, tho i dont use it excessively i still use it. i do from time to time get very angry during the game and at worse will type FFS/FS to show it. mainly against a purposeful teamkill!

There are ways to speak you r mind about a TK other than swearing you know.
Oh and BTW...We're not saying you can't swear, but if you do, the Filter will warn you twice and then kick, if you come back in again and swear it will warn you twice then ban.

Again...Our server is full all the time so some people must like it.

What I don't understand is that there are Thousands of server's out there with rules of their own. (Even EA official servers warn for cursing), go find some to play on that don't care about swearing and leave ours to the people that do.

I agree with Big sammy 100 percent. This game has the biggest bunch of ******* I have ever seen in my life that cant take some foul language. I forgot his name but saying they have 11 year olds playing a WAR game where people are being blown up and letting them figure out that a headshot is the best way to KILL someone. And yet once they hears the word "****" or "damn" the childs mind is warped forever. I got kicked for saying the actual letters "BS" one time in a server. Shows just that "mature" adults cant take it, or that their 11 year old war seasoned killing machine blowing people up cant take the language either.

                            TAKE THE FILTERS OFF PANZIES

You completely ignore the fact that this is a game for 16+ and so you shouldn't be letting those children play or if you do then considering there playing a violent game meant for adults a little swearing is hardly gonna make much difference. This is very reminicent of the general scewed american perspective of how its fine for children to see violence engage in violence but god fobid there ever exposed to anything sexual or a rude word.

As for my sig im not promoting anything im simply taking the mic out of all the 'sheep' who copy and paste inane signatures in to there own that mean nothing at all, as for general cannabis use? I think if more people smoked cannabis and didn't drink the world would be a far more inspired less violant place.

And no i don't have children but i do work in a school as there network admin and occasionally teach.
